A MESSAGE FROM THE YEAST GUY....
Know what cases I love?! Gut issues. Dogs with bad poo scores, food intolerances, leaky gut, all that kind of thing. I always think "I know just what to do here". And the results are invariably pretty good, so you feel great.

The trickier cases are those suffering chronic itch with no known cause (termed idiopathic, by vets).

The vets clearly struggle with this one. Unfortunately, their very pro-drug approach offers no actual SOLUTION to the problem. As most of us know on here, the long-term application of steroids and creams and injections and antibiotics and antihistamines is not only a fruitless focus on symptoms, but as these products negatively impact the gut flora, they make the problem, which is a gut problem, so much worse.

So by the time a chronically itchy dog lands with us, they're in a bad way.

Up until recently, we would do all the usuals with itchy dogs - explore food, single protein diets (looking for food intolerances), supplements, herbs (as best we know, but then you talk to Rita Hogan and realise you know nothing!) - but if and when that fails, and it often does with such cases, we would have nowhere to turn.

I urge anyone who is at this point with their own dog or client, when the gut is healed, the poos are good, food intolerances have been explored and the supplements are not working, to consider an internal yeast dysbiosis.

Yeast is the forgotten part of the biome. Yes, they make up less in number but they are 20-200 times bigger than bacteria. Worse, our old advice of "starve the yeast" actually can make things WORSE, forcing the yeast to the gut membrane for sustenance, penetrating through the gut membrane, causing furious inflammation. Worse, when there, it covers itself with a biofilm to protect itself.

And your vet won't diagnose that as extra numbers of yeast cells in the p**p is NOT expected. Remember it is likely in hyphal form in the gut wall. When it grows it simply grows larger, it's not budding in the digesta for the yeast to see in the poo sample.

In fact, by doing a stool test and seeing the bacterial flora is awry (from the yeast infection!), it can lead you down the wrong path of bacterial pre and probiotics, never focusing on the issue at hand, which is why they work for some (when it's a bacterial issue) and not for others (when it's yeast).

And yes, the damage wrought by yeast at the gut lining can lead to not only mega inflammation but gut membrane damage and eventually leaky gut (with subsequent food intolerances).

THIS is the missing piece of the puzzle for us canine nutritionists.

THIS is why the intolerances keep building, despite our best efforts.

You can work on that diet all you like but in these cases we haven't removed the enemy at the gate that is letting everyone in.

Sounds complicated, but it has a simple, natural solution that involves 5 or 6 ingredients. I put them all together in Yeast Defeat and it's really working well.

This is what it's step 4 on the image below. If the dog is still itchy after those first 3 steps, I use it. If it works, it was yeast. If it doesn't, that's information you needed and it cost you lesss than €30 to get it.

Want to learn more? Come to my talk on "Advancements in Probiotics" in Orlando 13th May with Dr. Judy Morgan's Naturally Healthy Pets, or check out my quick 5-step protocol for itchy dogs (pictured) on drconorbrady. com, that will walk you through the yeast part.

The more you learn about the biome the less you realise you know.

01/11/2025

After your animals initial puppy vaccine series, do you realize that you do not and should not be giving yearly and tri yearly vaccinations?
Please ask your vet to do a blood draw(titer)to check for immunity instead. Continuing to vaccinate on a schedule is actually injuring your pets and possibly causing immune mediated disease and endocrine disorders. You are your pets only advocate‼️🐾❤️✌️

C3 vaccines give a LONG LASTING IMMUNITY (with strong antibody levels) of at least 5-7 years! (F3 for cats are the same.)

If your pet has good antibody levels, any so-called 'booster' vaccination never increases antibody levels, or makes your pet's immunity any stronger.

This is because the antibodies grab and neutralise the vaccine before your pet's immune system can respond to it.

However, every single vaccination carries a risk of harm to your pet. This can be mild, but in some cases can trigger life-threatening diseases like immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia.

Sometimes vaccinations can trigger chronic illness, immune system dysregulation, allergies, autoimmune diseases, or other chronic issues.

So why do vets continue to re-vaccinate pets with unnecessary C3 (and F) vaccinations yearly, or three-yearly?

Is it a lack of knowledge?

There are stacks of high-quality evidence that show how long these vaccines give protection for!

Is it financial pressures?

I know my income in my practice dropped by 25% when I stopped re-vaccinating yearly and three-yearly!

What do you need to do to:

a) protect your pets from disease?

and...

b) minimise risk of vaccine injury and harm?

My advice is this.

ALWAYS titer test before any re-vaccination. If there are adequate antibody levels, your pets DON"T need re-vaccination.

Avoid non-core vaccinations unless there is a significant risk/benefit imperative.

And do everything you can to keep your pets vital and well with holistic health care, a high-quality fresh whole foods diet, and LOTS OF LOVE!

Message me if you need a one-on-one Zoom appt to go through the nitty gritty for your pets. (If you have a vaccine-injured pet, there are some things we can do that may help!)

I help animals all over the world heal and be well + happy with holistic veterinary care, kind training, and energy healing. If you want me to help your pets, message me! Zoom and in person appts available.

Someone recently told us that "fat has little to no nutritional value" so reposting this feels appropriate.

Since Ancel Keys first proposed that replacing saturated fat with polyunsaturated fat could reduce the rate of cardiovascular disease, fat in general has been under constant fire, but particularly fat from animal sources, like butter, cream, tallow, lard, etc. Thankfully, as more and more evidence is collected and brought to light, it has become increasingly clear that the idea that "fat is bad for you" is utterly preposterous and has led to many catastrophic health movements since it was first introduced.

To be clear: there are many, many types of toxic fats. Fats from seed oils or fats that have been oxidized or fats that are rancid are all devastating to health in various ways. These types of fats have been shown to disrupt many biological functions, including mental health, metabolic health, muscle and organ health, energy levels, and heart health. It has been shown time and time again that diets that limit saturated fat and fats from animal sources are not conducive to long term health.

Solutions honors the relationships between fat and the rest of the body and celebrates foods that allow the body to function in its most optimal way - animal fats in their pure forms. Our raw fermented dog food diets maintain an optimal 1:1 fat to protein ratio, our dairy is always full fat. The body utilizes the energy from these diets to support every other bodily function.

ENERGY: energy has to come from something - the reason why animals eat is so that their bodies can “refuel” depleted aspects of themselves and power the enormous energy requirements of the brain. “Calories” are the measure of energy that food can provide. Fat is the most energy dense nutrient, being two times as energy dense as protein and carbohydrates.

CELLULAR HEALTH: Fats - water insoluble biological molecules known as “lipids” - are the primary components of cell membranes. By limiting fat consumption or by providing rancid or otherwise damaged fats, we limit the body’s ability to maintain cellular health because the body simply won’t have the resources necessary to repair or replace damaged cells.

PROTEIN UTILITY: diets that are deficient in fats force the body to use either carbohydrates or protein for energy. The process by which the body converts protein to energy creates nitrogen in the body, leading to inevitable kidney damage, and also can lead to muscle wasting - so much protein must be used for minimal energy gain that there is very little left to dedicate to protein’s actual purpose - muscle and organ regeneration. By balancing fat and protein, we allow the body to use fat for energy, leaving protein able to function as it is supposed to.

HORMONE PRODUCTION: if reproductive organs are damaged or in other ways insufficient, the body depends on fat to produce various hormones in the body. Without a proper balancing of various types of fat cells, dogs and cats that are spayed or neutered will have severe hormonal imbalances because two major sources of hormone production have been severely limited.

Interestingly, AAFCO, in their wisdom (🙄), has established minimums for lineoleic acid, an Omega 6 fatty acid that has been heralded as one of the major contributors to chronic disease in the western world, but has not established minimums for healthy polyunsaturated fats like DHA and EPA. This leads to diets that are enormously overbalanced with Omega 6, which can cause chronic inflammation and contribute to other disease states. Its high time that the antiquated view of fat is abolished.

This is related to my last post about the revolving door of drugs as a Band-Aid at your local vet's office. Food matters‼️ Especially when you're talking about bully breeds. They are a walking allergy as soon as they pop out of the womb.🐾✌️

"My husband and I first noticed the lesions around the beginning of September 2024. Kaya started out with lesions on her left side flank area that were filled with sebum underneath the scabs. She then developed ye**ty scabs over her entire body that were yellow and sticky and smelled very strongly of yeast and she lost 80-90% of her fur. She was scratching herself bloody and raw around her neck and face area. We took her to the vet right when we noticed these symptoms first beginning.

She was prescribed a round of antibiotics (Amoxicillin/Clav) and steroids (Prednisone). Once we realized these weren't working, we returned to the vet, who switched the antibiotic to Baytrill and gave her a Cytopoint injection - Kaya had a reaction to either the new antibiotic or the injection so the vet recommended a different antibiotic and asked to see us again in two weeks. During that time, Kaya gained more scabs, lost more hair, began shaking 24/7, and developed a very rapid heart rate (resting over 200bpm). At this point, the vet prescribed the original antibiotic (Amoxicillin/Clav) and we began looking for alternative healing solutions.

A close friend put us in touch with Chelsea from Hero's Pets, who put us in touch with a holistic vet in our area, who began Therabath sessions, which are helping tremendously. At this time, we began to follow the Solutions Liver & Endocrine Restorative Diet - Kaya has lost weight, stopped shaking, is regrowing hair, and is finally sleeping comfortably."

When we talk about "solutions for disease," we are not merely referring to symptom reduction While this is an important outcome of addressing a disease, it does not represent the ultimate resolution. If underlying concerns are not addressed, detrimental deficiencies and toxicities wreak havoc in other ways and eventually overwhelm the symptom-suppressing methodology. Our Restorative Diets provide an approachable avenue for sick pets to experience true whole body healing through the power of fresh food.

There is light at the end of the tunnel - our purpose is clear and bright, like a sunrise over glistening pasture grass. To create vibrant health - solutions for disease ❤️
