Seriously, why isn’t Patches adopted. This dog is fabulous. Very well mannered. Walks like a champ. Attacks people with kisses and affection. He is awkward meeting new dogs but he is not reactive. Patches is 6 years old. 100% vetted and chipped and literally the softest dog ever. He will come with 2 months of food, winter wear, toys, and blankets. Adopt now at www.chicagopitstop.org

Teddy!
PIT CREW, meet "Teddy" who was being surrendered as we were leaving the shelter yesterday because his owner died and the grandson couldn't keep him. Based upon his condition, his outlook at the shelter was bleak, so we decided to take him with us to give him a night of snuggles, snacks and hanging out with Christine Panos Keiner and Tabby Madison and we would take him to our vet for an assessment and decision in morning. After an exam and xrays, the vet let us know that it appeared that Teddy was not ready to go gentle into that good night as the enlarged liver, bladder and extremely large belly might be from an untreated and out of control case of cushings. So, we are running blood work and will treat his other issues (skin ailments, growths on elbows and pads) and go from there once we have more info. In the meantime, we are looking for a hospice foster for Teddy. He is an 11 year old un-neutered male (if/when we get the green light on that, we would certainly have that done, but it depends on his health) appears fine with other dogs, great with people, will be house trained once his medical issue is under control (he does his best to let you know when he has to go, but he has to urinate quite frequently right now, so accidents are possible), and cats are a no as he is very interested in the ones he has seen at the shelter. Please let us know if you are interested in letting this guy live out his golden months in the comfort of your home. Thank you! Sarah Lauch Angelica Staniszewska Patricia Venziano Angela Capozziello

It is with a heavy heart that we write this. Last night, Mama Patricia (puppy foster extraordinaire) lost her beautiful girl Maya. Maya befriended a little pittie puppy when she was a baby, and that sparked Patricia's passion. Because of Maya, countless puppies have made a "pit stop" at her house. Maya loved them all and taught them how to dig in the yard as only a husky can. She was sweet and smart with a sprinkle of naughty. Her life was cut way too short (screw you cancer!!!!!!). Our hearts are with Patricia and her family right now. Thank you Maya. Thank you for caring for all of you foster siblings, showing your mom her passion, loving your little boy, and giving us so many wonderful memories so we can carry you with us. Run free Maya.
A little over 6 years ago I was going through a rough time...rescue drama (I know, shocking!) that I won't rehash here. But I will forever be grateful to the people who refused to respond to Tabby Madison when she asked what was going on...as that caused her to reach out to Eugenia and me while Chicago Pit Stop Rescue was in its infancy and subsequently joined us. Since then, she has run Chicago Pit Stop Rescue with me, has become my "person" (as they say on Grey's Anatomy) and is one of the few people I consider to have loved my boy Titan nearly as much as I did (probably a close third behind Pat Keiner). So for that, I am so thankful for that rocky time in my life as it brought Cathy and her family into my life, making them a part of my chosen family. Please join me in wishing Cathy a happy birthday. She doesn't like to be touched (just ask any doctor who has examined her, ever...so don't hug her if you see her...but she does appreciate a solid wave. 💕 Tina
Now THIS is how Fly kisses goodnight (sorry, his mom cut out his kisses in the previous video 😂). #Flychicagopitstop #FlysMom #Chicagopitstoprescue #CPSR #ikissedapitandilikedit
It's so hard to even know how to write a post like this. Wednesday we took our Ferd in to get his bandages changed and talk about the biopsy results. Our worst fears came true. Our sweet Ferd had squamous cell carcinoma. That is a very mean and aggressive cancer. It was literally eating our sweet Ferd alive and he was in pain. We immediately called his diet quits (much to Ferd's delight) and headed straight to McDonald's. He ate cheeseburgers, fries, steak, bacon, and just about anything he wanted. Last night we went to Hinsdale Animal Hospital where he considered the entire staff family and they considered him the same way, and we said goodbye. We are heartbroken. Ferd was the sweetest big boy. We would have done anything for him and we will miss him terribly. We want to thank everyone who loved Ferd. Thank you so much to the entire staff at Hinsdale Animal Hospital especially Dr. Plomin for helping Ferd cross over peacefully. We will miss you Ferdy.
