Friends of Chicago Pit Stop - I know we haven’t posted in a long time. I’m sharing this post from our friends at One More Dog Rescue for this pup Coffee Cake. She just had a double TPLO surgery and they need the funds to cover the surgery. If you are able to donate, we would so appreciate it; otherwise, please spread the word and share her story. Guess what we need? Yep. Money. $6900 to be exact. Because this one is a doozy and let’s be honest, donations are hardest to come by for a dog that isn’t one step away from death. But the truth is, Coffee Cake WAS facing euthanasia. The shelter was out of space. We were her last chance. The truth is she WAS in terrible pain. This surgery did become urgently needed, very quickly. Without this procedure she would not have the quality of life she deserves. And the truth is we have NO money. There’s no sugar coating it. Without our community, we couldn’t have supported the unexpected medical cases that have come up recently (or in the past). This has been a brutal time. We won’t list all the reasons why. You already know them. Almost every group is facing them. It is simply the reality in rescue right now. But we have to keep going because the population of dogs in need is only continuing to grow and that means we will continue to beg and borrow and do whatever is needed because when these pups become OMD dogs, we promise them better and you can bet your a** we are going to deliver…even if it means pole dancing in the sticks (and we have nothing against pole dancing or the sticks) and believe us, no one wants to see that. Help us save the strip club patrons and help us stay afloat and help us pay Cake’s bill. And most of all, thank you for all your continued support. We feel truly lucky to have a community that cares about every OMD dog as if they were their own — and they are our dogs AND yours because we could never do this without you.
