We are always looking for ideas to post on social media that will make people smile, laugh, or feel all the good feelings.
This is one of those posts that is a little different, but it is just as significant. It's one of those things that literally paused time in this busy place when we took a moment to sit and read it.
Cindy is a client of ours who wrote this after we helped her sweet baby cross the Rainbow Bridge, and she gave us permission to share her heartfelt words. We hope it moves you the way it moved us.
In Loving Memory of Willie Boy
Forever in my heart, running with Dakota
The wiggle-butt Aussie, his lifelong buddy while on Earth
When Willie was born, just a pup full of cheer,
He bounded through days with no shadow, no fear.
A tumble, a bark, little paws on the floor,
Each sunrise brought laughter, each day promised more.
He learned where the treats hid, he claimed his soft bed,
He knew when to nuzzle, to tilt his sweet head.
He chased after balls, found the sunniest place,
And love shone forever in his gentle face.
Through seasons together, our bond only grew,
In sunshine and rainfall, his heart still was true.
With patience, with loyalty, joy by the mile,
My days were made brighter by his steady smile.
But time has a way of surprising the soul,
The seizures crept in, they started to take their toll.
His bright eyes grew sightless, the darkness drew near,
Yet he still sought my touch, still found comfort here.
I whispered, “Dear Willie, I’ll love you always,
But love sometimes means giving rest from hard days.”
Though breaking my heart was the choice I must make,
I gave him the freedom no suffering could take.
He lifted his head, gave a soft little sigh,
Then drifted to peace with the gentlest goodbye.
The Bridge came into view, with its fields fresh and wide,
Where sunlight and laughter forever abide.
And there, waiting happily, with her no tail butt wiggling too,
Was Dakota, who’d also recently left me, and my joy for them grew.
Though time there meant nothing, she stood waiting with a patience so sweet,
With a happy wiggle-butt dance, as their souls once again did meet.
Two friends reunited, they ran side by side,
Their spirits unbroken, their joy magnified.
Now Willie runs free where the flowers all grow,
With Dakota beside him, through rivers that flow.
No seizures, no shadows, no sorrow, no darkness of sight—
Just endless adventure in meadows of light.
Though here I still miss him, my heart’s not alone,
For love builds a bridge stronger than stone.
And someday, when my journeys and trials are through,
I’ll cross that same bridge—and they’ll run to me too.
Once again to be reunited, never to part,
But for now I'll have to be content, to hold them tightly in my heart
