Hazel is still looking for her fur-ever home or a foster home until her forever comes along.
No cats and she would do best as the only dog in the home. But she loves people and is a big love bug. 🐞
Can anyone help Hazel?
If you can, please go to our website and fill out an application.
This is sweet, sweet Charlie. He is the best boy. Although he behaves like a kitten at times, we believe Charlie to be around 4 years old. He is also gifted with the cutest personality. Charlie is very playful but also has a super soft side and loves to snuggle up beside his foster mom for naps. We know there is someone out there just needing his kind of love.
Charlie came from a rural area, severely neglected, and was pretty much left to die. One of our volunteers and fosters heard about him and immediately went to pick him up and get him to HSOC for the medical help he needed. Charlie fully recovered and promptly bounced back with such gusto and love for life. His foster mom loves him best and describes him in the cute way he tilts his head and wags his tail when spoken to as possibly being part puppy dog. He gets along with other cats and dogs in his foster home.
Charlie has no lingering health concerns.
Help! The Humane Society of Oldham County needs kitten formula!!!
It’s kitten season and our foster are working overtime to feed the tiniest mouths. To help them grow strong 💪🏻, we need Kitten Milk Replacement formula and wet canned kitten food. Donations can be dropped off directly at the center or even delivered to our location. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated❣️
Two of our volunteers took Hazel on an incredible aventure to Tennessee this past weekend. As you can see, she had an amazing time, relaxing, playing fetch and even chasing some rabbits.
You could see the joy on her face in all of the photos and videos they sent to us.
She’s now a little bit bummed to be back at our office because she’s ready for her family.
Hazel is a favorite of the HSOC volunteers. She is laid-back, loves belly rubs, and is very tolerant of having her body touched. She loves attention from people.
Hazel went through her training in basic commands and manners in Camp K-9 at the Kentucky State Reformatory.
She should do fine in a home with older children. No cats, please!
If you have a dog, we could facilitate a meet and greet, but in general, she would do best as the only animal.
Hazel is a Mastiff mix who is a little over 3 years old. She weighs about 84 pounds.
If you are interested in meeting Hazel, please go to our website to the “Adopt” page and fill out an application.
Meet Rootey! Rootey is a 10-month-old Beagle/Cattle Dog mix who is a rootin’ tootin’ good time!
He is in training in Camp K-9 at the Kentucky State Reformatory where he is learning basic commands and manners. But he has still got a lot of fun puppy attitude in him.
Rootey should do fine with other dogs and even cats.
Because cattle dogs are bred to herd, they can be a bit mouthy and a bit much for small children.
But with the right owner, he will be a loyal, intelligent, alert and clever dog.
If you want to meet Rootey, please go to the HSOC website and fill out an application.
‼️ ADOPTED ‼️
Meet little Gemma. Gemma had a bit of a rough start when she came to us, but we’ve got her feeling all better again!
We aren’t sure of her breed, but she may be a little Border Collie mix. She is a little over 2 months old.
You might notice that she is missing some hair on her ears and around her eyes, but as her immune system continues to strengthen, that hair should grow back. Even without it, she’s undeniably adorable!
Gemma will need an owner that is patient enough to potty train, crate train her, and continue with some general training in overall manners.
She’s just a little baby after all!
If you are interested in meeting Gemma, please go to the HSOC website and fill out an application.
Meet S'mores! She would love to meet YOU!
Pixel is ready for his family!
He is an approximately 1-year-old, 13-pound Jack Russell Terrier mix. He is full of energy, but also likes a bit of cuddle and lap time.
He needs a home with a yard and secure fencing.
Can you believe that Pixel was living in a car before we rescued him?
He would do best with an individual or couple who can handle a very energetic dog and should do great in a family with children.
Check him out – he’s tiny tons of fun.
If you are interested in meeting Pixel, please go to the HSOC website and fill out an application.
We love our adopters! And we especially love when they come back to adopt another pup.
After adopting Flynn from us, Carrie heard about 7-year-old Callie, a Yorkie mix, who had been living tied up outside.
Now answering to Maizie May, this dog is getting all of the spoiling she deserves and is coming out of her shell with her new brother Flynn.
Did you know that the majority of our dogs live at the Kentucky State Reformatory, where they receive training and basic commands and manners in Camp K-9?
They live there ~ all the time ~ with their inmate handler who spends time training them in all sorts of things such as visitor control, door control, food control, sit, down, stay, and come. And as you can see here ~ lots of other amazing feats and tricks.
The best thing is we work with you so you can know what your dog knows!
This is our fantastically-trained Cattle Dog Chase showing everybody the amazing things he has learned.
Chase is on a home trial right now and our fingers are sure crossed that it becomes his forever home.
But we wanted to just give you a taste of the amazing things that our trained dogs can do. The program is so fantastic for everyone involved ~ the dogs are more adoptable, families are happier, and it gives the handlers a sense of purpose and a marketable skill that they might use one day on the outside.
In other words ~ everybody’s happy!
Betsy and Little man Mike were trapped from a colony of cats in Eminence awhile back. They are now about 5 months old. Betsy is a big sister to her brother and takes care of him. She is an active kitty who loves to jump and play and cries when she wants your attention. And she LOVES to eat! Mike had an eye infection which left him blind in one eye, but he doesn't know it. Mike is very affectionate . He loves to be picked up and held in any position, especially like a baby. We are hoping they can go together. They play so gently (they always keep their claws in) and would do great with kids. The foster said you may come to her home in Prospect for a meet and greet. Please complete an application at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HSOC/Cat if you are interested in meeting them.
Introducing Lasso Crez! Lasso is being fixed on Wednesday and will be ready for adoption. If he were a human, he would best be described as "all boy." He is a very helpful kitty. He loves to help you with your socks and shoes....even if you aren't wearing any. Sometimes, he will let you know if your hair is out of place and will re-adjust it accordingly. And he will help you not spend too much time shoveling food in your face. We are sure once you meet him, you will decide you need a lil' Lasso in your home!
