Going on vacation? Make sure you have your pets covered with a travel checklist!
~Emergency information: Provide your pet sitter with information like: What to do in case of emergency, emergency contact numbers, the location of your pet's carrier, payment information for emergency care, leave a letter of permission to treat for pet sitters, and most importantly contacting your local hospitals to set up care instructions in case of an emergency while out of town!
~Pet sitter or boarding: If you can't leave your pet at home alone, you can consider hiring a pet sitter or boarding them. When choosing a pet sitter, it's important to find a reputable one.
~Identification: Ensure your pet has a collar and ID tags, and consider microchipping them.
~Vaccinations: Make sure your pet is up to date on all vaccinations, and ask your veterinarian about any additional vaccinations that may be needed for your destination.
~Medications: Before leaving town, make sure to call in all your pets medications and have them ready prior to leaving town to set your pet up for success. Skipping medication dosing can be dangerous or lead to other health problems.
~First aid kit: Prepare a pet-friendly first aid kit.
~Care instructions: Make sure to prepare a instruction list for your pets daily care and needs.
