Mission Statement

I Dream of Home Rescue's (IDOHR) mission is to rescue abandoned, unwanted and surrendered animals. While we search for loving homes, we give them what all animals deserve: shelter, food, veterinary care, and love. IDOHR will also advocate and educate on the importance of pet adoption, spaying, neutering and proper pet care.IDOHR Board of Directors has the sole responsibility fo

r approving all adopters and fosters. IDOHR does not adopt to out-of-state or out-of-country adopters. All adopters and fosters must live in the state of California and complete an adoption or foster application and contract. Refusal to do so is the reason to be denied for adopting or fostering. IDOHR pays for all the dog's medical needs, spay, vaccinations, microchip, collars, food, leash, bed, and any other required dog needs. The rescue provides for all of this anything purchased outside of the rescue must be approved by the board of directors prior to purchase or services. IDOHR will not be responsible for expenses for any dog where the foster or adopter has not received prior IDOHR Board of Director approval. Foster Responsibilities:

We have a feral mama with 5 kittens. They are about 5-6 weeks old...

They are eating both wet and dry food, and lapping water/formula. They are also using the litter box. All have been super healthy with no signs of URI and stool is firm.

Unfortunately I had to remove them from their mama in order to socialize them. Mama was making the process hard and they started becoming spicy.

They are fine now... but I'm looking for fosters near the Inland Empire area ie Riverside, Ontario, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Pomona, Chino, San Dimas, Glendora etc, or Foster to Adopt Program. Both type of Fosters would be under rescue supervision for all medical care. They "all" DO NOT have to go to one foster. They can be split up.

IDOHR would be responsible for their medical care, food, and necessities.

Yesterday marked the triumphant conclusion of our 3-day adoption event at Petsmart Pasadena. With an outpouring of community support, we welcomed countless visitors and facilitated 7 successful adoptions, upholding our rigorous process. Our comprehensive approach - application, interview, home check, and meet & greet - ensured the perfect matches. I was thrilled to share this experience with my grandson. Each adoptee's story showcases resilience: Eire, once on the euthanasia list, now thrives; Raven and Beanie, once abandoned, found unity; Duke, Olympus, and Clara, discarded kittens, discovered love; and Zeus, a stray, blossomed. More applications await review, but this event sparked hope. Our raffle raised $150, and gratitude abounds to all who contributed to this life-changing weekend.

URGENT: Help Needed for Dusty!

Meet Dusty, a sweet and energetic 10-month-old Border Collie who needs our help. His mom, Mysty, found a wonderful forever home with the help of a wonderful I Dream of Home Rescue adopter just a few months ago, and now it’s Dusty’s turn.

Originally, Dusty’s owners decided to keep him, but they realized they could no longer accommodate him. If we can’t find a foster, adopter, or rescue willing to take Dusty in, he’ll be headed to a shelter, and we want to avoid that at all costs.

Dusty is a playful, intelligent pup with so much potential and love to give. We know his perfect match is out there!

🚨 Attention, everyone! 🚨

Do you remember Snoopy and Hugo, the two adorable pups my neighbor surrendered? They are currently in in-home boarding and could really use some help to get back on their feet!

First off, they need a grooming session! 🛁💇‍♂️ We need to raise about $70 per dog to get them groomed, so any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. You can send donations via Venmo or Zelle [email protected]. Every bit helps keep these pups happy and healthy!

There is something incredibly special about a breed that carries a negative reputation, and a dog that breaks every stereotype.

Greycie has been the most amazing girl ever since she was rescued.

Time and time again, she has shown the world that Power Breeds can coexist with other dogs, both big and small, in the household. She has proven her exceptional manners while out in public, even accompanying her fosters on errands, sometimes to medical facilities.

But this post isn’t about that. This post is about Love and Loyalty.

One day last week, her foster took her and her foster brother for a walk. For reference, their combined weight is approximately 150 pounds, give or take. Everything was going well until, out of nowhere, a German Shepherd came from behind and attacked their handler. It was sudden and unprovoked.

Greycie’s foster was on the ground when Tama quickly turned around, grabbed the Shepherd, and flung him about seven feet away. Greycie then took the lead and charged at the dog, making him run away.

But the most amazing part of this story is that neither dog needed to be recalled. Instinctively, they both returned to their foster to make sure he was okay, licking him to reassure him that he was safe and everything was under control.

They did not pursue the German Shepherd further, nor did they redirect aggression toward each other.

These two were perfection. They protected their loved one but did not escalate the situation.

If, after reading this, you still have any doubts about what an AMAZING girl Greycie is, I’m not sure what to say!

She would make the most wonderful addition to your family. She loves fiercely and would fit in beautifully.

Greycie is truly an ambassador for her breed.

I am Greycie (please read my 411)

I am 10 months young, still an eager to please puppy.
I’m a fan of all dogs big and small…I have not been introduced to felines, so not sure how I would be around them.

Children are my absolute favorite. I adjust my energy to the little ones and I’m gentle with them.

I enjoy my daily walks with my Foster Dad and the pack members. There are so many new smells to explore. My current backyard is the coolest. I run zoomies and jump as high as I can over the walkway to show off my skills.

I also have found my special spot on the couch where I nap while my Foster Fam watches the big screen in the living room. It has also been rumored I am potty trained, not one accident inside. Yay me!!!

I am a polite girl and love my meals. My Foster Dad quickly found out chicken was not my favorite,but beef definitely was!! (Where’s the Beef?)

My Foster family has kept me very social by including me in daily errands and trips to the mall. My favorite stops are In-n-out for a pup patty and Starby’s for a pup cup.

Other exciting news is my Foster fam has enrolled me in classes where I learn commands like sit, stay & focus. If you ask me, I think I’m gonna ace this!!!

We want to share an incredible story of perseverance and following through to the end. This is how it started, please read...

On July 13, 2024, Eva King, an IDOHR alumni and friend, posted this:

"I’m not the Agent that will walk away.

I’m fully involved when it comes to animals on a premises in need.

This home I previewed for a client today was vacant
And although it seemed people would come in to work on the home …..it was hot and these dogs didn’t have fresh water in that bucket.

I made sure to refresh the water.

The female pitty wasn’t as fond of water as the boxer hunk.
She was sweet as can be and has the most beautiful face.
I messaged the Listing Agent and told her those dogs needed attention. I told her to contact the owner to go clean that bucket and feed them because the bowl looked dusty."

This is the story of Eva's journey to rescue these two beautiful abandoned pups.

PSA - Long but hopefully worth your time.

RESEARCH YOUR BREEDS!

Brachycephalic (Squished Face) Dogs - Pugs, Frenchie's, Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Shih Tzus and Pekingese. All of these breeds are known as brachycephalic (break-ee-cef-alec), meaning they have very short, broad skulls.

Many owners seek out these breeds for their looks but are unaware of the long list of health problems that accompany such traits.

Though respiratory issues are among the greatest concerns in these breeds, they often suffer from a variety of other non-airway related issues. Some of these include:

Inflammation/infection in skin folds (called pyometra)
Dental crowding and misalignment of teeth – more frequent and invasive dental care is often needed
Abnormal protrusion of the eye – these breeds are more prone to “proptosis” which is when the eye is dislocated from the orbit usually resulting in surgical removal of the eye
Fur or abnormally placed eyelashes rubbing on the eye
Allergies
Breeding/Birthing complications

ANOTHER THING - they do not tolerate the heat well at all!

Today at work, as I was walking to our breakroom, I heard a weird noise that I thought was a dog toy squeaking. Turns out it was a French Bulldog in distress. Its handler (the owner's Mom) had brought him to the store at the hottest part of the day. His tongue was turning blue, he was panting and was VERY stressed.

I ran to the breakroom and got a bottle of water and some paper towels. I had just read an article last night about how to help a dog with heat stroke. I had her wrap the wet paper towels around his paws, try to get him to drink room-temperature water, and remove his big heavy harness.

Next, I ran and grabbed 2 towels and soaked them, we put one on his belly and covered him with the other. The entire time I was telling the woman she needed to get him to a veterinarian. That if it was heat stroke without treatment he could die within an hour. Her response was, "Let me call my son."

I told her this weather was too extreme for this breed of dog. She said she was having an "open house" and couldn't be there. She said the dog wasn't vaccinated because he's allegic to the vaccination so she couldn't take him to a hotel or board him. I asked her if he had been vaccinated before, her response was...No. Riddle me this batman, then HOW DOES SHE KNOW HE'S ALLERGIC???

A couple who owned 3 bulldogs saw what was going on and the woman immediately tried to help. We put him in a cart and took him to the breakroom and placed him in front of a fan.

Again, both of us were trying to convince her to take him to the vet. Our suggestions and pleas fell on death ears. She said her son had made an appointment with his vet. I don't believe it for minute.

I went out to the woman's car to move it closer to the door and blasted the AC trying to cool down the car. Once it was cool we took him to the car and the handler wanted to put him in the back seat. Both the other lady and myselt told her the dog needed to be near the vents. She said, "he doesn't like the front seat."

The other woman that helped and myself, didn't believe for a moment that she had any intention of getting him to a vet.

On top of all this stress, one of the supervisors at work took the tag for the two towels I grabbed and took them to the office. I swear to god I honestly think she thought she could nail me for strealing them, EVEN THOUGH I put it on a table in the breakroom and said I'm going to pay for these.

I hope the dogs people actually took him to the vet. I paid for the damn towels so I hope I don't get fired for "stealing" towels. LOL

TOO LATE to say "long story short" but KEEP YOUR SMASH FACE DOGS HOME IN AN AIR CONDITIONED HOME!!

Hello! My name is Autumn and I cannot express enough how much I love playing! I love playing with other dogs, people, and toys!
