Happy New Year! We have all three grandkids at CLR this week. Been riding ATV's, helping at the ranch and now time of a little riding...... Waffles and Berry drew the short straw today, but they are horses to trust. All is well in 2026!

MERRY CHRISTMAS from CLR ! Nice warm day here in south Texas. Boys are just having a lazy afternoon. They are a bit warm in their winter coats and almost 80 degree temp right now. It is suppose to cool off Monday? But all is well at Clyde's Legacy Ranch.

The ranch is looking like a desert. No rain in the last two months. Silly boys are at the taco "day hay " truck munching away. The noise of a stump grinder doesn't even bother them. How important it is to desensitize horses to loud strange noise. All is well at CLR !

Welcome to Clyde's Legacy JUNGLE! The rains in late May and June have lead to a phenomenal growth in our wooded areas. I think the horses like it? They do spend the afternoons grazing around in the tall weeds. There doesn't seem to be any issues. All is well at CLR !

Clyde was an inspiration!

My name is Doug. My horse Clyde was an Amish plow horse that was injured and thrown away to slaughter after surviving on little or no food for a time. He was rescued by “Horses Deserve a Second Chance” and I purchased him to be a potential patrol horse. But more than that, I saw his kind eye. When he stepped off the trailer my horse world changed forever. I was taught how to train him by “Buzz” a trainer in Norco, CA. Clyde opened the door for me to get involved with horse rescue. I learned a lot working with some of the “bad horses” that had been abused. Working with Buzz, I saw transformations from horrible uncontrolled horses to magnificent animals that just needed a fair chance and caring treatment. Tracy Acres opened my eyes a bit further with their magnificent sanctuary work for some of these “lost ones”. Clyde developed under my care and training into one of the best Patrol Horses on a Sheriff’s Mounted Unit. Sadly after six plus years of faithful service the years of hard farming labor took their toll with severe arthritic nerve damage. Clyde crossed the rainbow bridge in October 2018. Where do I stand now? I AM NOT by the professional definition a “horse trainer”. But perhaps I can help a few more develop and move on to great homes or perhaps giving a few lucky ones a sanctuary to live out their life in peace. A work in progress? Yes! But may the Lord be my guide to keep Clyde’s Spirit very much alive !
