DeSoto demonstrated what not to do this week when he ingested a delicious corn cob. In his defense, we are certain that he thought it was digestible. Sadly, corn cobs aren’t, and DeSoto spent time trying to get it out of his stomach “on his own”. Unfortunately he was only partly successful in those endeavors. His family brought him to Pinehurst and consulted with Dr Jennifer Effendi who was able to determine that even after all that effort, some of the cob was still present in DeSoto’s stomach. Dr Effendi used her endoscopy skills with the help of her surgery team LVT Sarah and VA Sydni to get it out without any incision. DeSoto went home this evening happy and seemingly innocent. Way to go team!!
