Starting April 1st, we’ll be making a small but important change to help keep all of our furry friends safe and healthy! 💙
To schedule an OPN (Outpatient Nurse) appointment for services like nail trims or a**l gland expressions, your pet will need to be up to date on their annual exam and rabies vaccine (unless the vaccine has been waived for a medical reason by your DVM) .
This policy ensures we’re providing the best care possible while keeping everyone—pets and humans—safe! If your pet needs an exam or vaccine update, give us a call, and we’d be happy to get them scheduled.

Dr. Yoshi
Born and raised on the island of Hawaii (Big Island), James has always loved animals which inspired him to become a veterinarian. James attended the veterinary program at Colorado State University and graduated in the class of 2019. His professional interests include small animal medicine, cytology, and soft tissue surgery.

He currently does not own any animals but he hopes to rescue a young Labrador mix in a year or two. Outside of veterinary medicine, he likes to play sports (e.g. soccer, basketball, ultimate frisbee) and video games.

Lacie - Veterinary Assistant

Lacie is a compassionate veterinary assistant with over 10 years of experience in animal welfare and veterinary care. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications and Design, she initially pursued a career as a Graphic Designer. However, Lacie soon found her true calling working with animals, which led her to transition into animal care.
Throughout her career, Lacie has gained invaluable experience in roles such as Program Coordinator at an East Coast animal shelter and animal health assistant at a veterinary treatment facility in Germany
Since joining the Hawks Prairie team in 2021, Lacie has been committed to continually expanding her knowledge to provide the highest level of care to her patients and their families.
She has a particular passion for canine behavior and end-of-life care, inspired by her special bond with her late German Shepherd, Belleau. She holds multiple certifications, including Low Stress Handling - Silver, Elite Fear Free Veterinary Professional, and is a Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Professional.
Outside of her professional life, Lacie enjoys reading, volunteering with various animal welfare organizations, and hiking Washington’s scenic trails.

One of our newest receptionist, Naomi has quickly become an integral part of the team. Her infectious smile and bubbly personality have made her a favorite with both clients and staff. Naomi joined our team last spring, bringing her warmth, energy, and passion for animals all the way from New England. With a background in grooming, she has a keen eye for pet care and loves making every furry friend feel at ease. As our veterinary receptionist, Naomi’s bubbly personality shines through in every interaction—whether she’s greeting clients with a bright smile, answering questions with enthusiasm, or making sure each visit runs smoothly. Dr. Hiebert comes to us from the Canadian prairies, being born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in biology and went on to complete a degree in naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario. After several years in private practice, she returned to school and graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine from St. George’s University (SGU) in Grenada, West Indes. She got her first taste of the Pacific Northwest during her clinical year, at Oregon State University. After graduation, she spent some time back in Canada in the Maritimes at a general small animal practice.

Dr. Hiebert’s approach to veterinary medicine emphasizes prevention. She is passionate about client education, as the root of doctor (docere) means “to teach”. Her special interests include internal medicine, integrative medicine, and behavioral medicine in dogs and cats. When not at Hawks Prairie Veterinary Hospital she enjoys traveling, reading, yoga, good food, and green tea. She is currently owned by two very snuggly cats. Her secret talent is baking a great loaf of bread.
