TIPS FOR RAINY DAY DOGGO WALKS ☔️

🐶 Have the right gear (waterproof booties, raincoat)

❤️Let them sniff! If you are going on a shorter walk due to weather, let them go on a sniff walk so they can get more mental stimulation.

🐾 Don’t forget to wipe down paws with a pet-safe wipe or spray to rid allergens and other debris

REMINDER🚨 If you place your hand on the pavement for 10 seconds and it's too hot, then it's also too hot for your doggo's paws 🐾

Most doggos are safe in warm temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees. Once you hit 85 and up, it's probably too hot for more than a bathroom break (5 to 15 minutes). Focus on water play or indoor brain games, instead! ☀️

And if you must walk your doggo, summertime booties are great!

In honor of , I want to share the story of the doggo who made my a dog mom 🐾

Angel was my soul dog. I was just 19 when I got her from a rehoming situation. She passed away from cancer in 2020 when I was 30 years old. We both grew up together. We went through all of college, went through heart breaks, happy times, meeting my husband, moving around, and so many things in between. Through my entire 20s, she was always there ♥️

When I got Angel, I really didn't know a lot about bully breeds and she was not an easy dog. She was high energy when she was young (she ate my whole couch 😅), she was anxious, she had some health issues and she was reactive with other dogs.

She also loved every single human she met, was so gentle with kids and grandparents, loved little doggos (like her BFF Mia the puggle) and adored laying in the sunshine ☀️

Being a dog mom isn’t easy but it's also the best.

Every time we take on a client who has a misunderstood breed, am anxious doggo, or any doggo who requires some extra love and patience from their humans… it’s in Angel’s honor ❤️🌈

We haven’t gotten another doggo yet as we’ve been busy building this growing business but we plan to adopt within the next year and will definitely be bringing you along our journey!

It’s Day! Here are some cutie clients who found their forever homes ❤️ Looking to adopt?

Here are some things to consider:

🐶 Breed! Some breeds are naturally more high-energy than others. This may mean they need more frequent or longer walks, brain games and engaged playtime.

🏡Your home. Do you live in an apartment? Do you have a fenced in yard? Do you rent or own? Take into consideration the size and weight of a pet (especially if your rental has restrictions).

⛑️Does the pet have any medical needs? Even if they don’t currently, you should always be prepared for medical expenses that almost certainly will occur. This is a big reason for pets being returned to shelters.

🐕Age. Puppies are cute but are you prepared for that amount of work? Sometimes a middle aged or senior doggo can work well for your lifestyle.

And if you can’t adopt, consider donating or fostering! ALL shelters in Indiana are full. Every bit helps ❤️

Springtime safety reminder for pet parents ‼️ When you’re walking your doggo, be sure to keep an eye out for lawn care signs 🌳 that signify your neighbor’s grass is likely unsafe for your doggo to walk on. Don’t see a sign? A pristine yard is nice to look at but it also is safe to assume it’s also not pet-safe 🚫

🐾 And to be on the safe side, wipe down your dog’s paws with a pet-safe sanitizing wipe or spray before you re-enter your home. Weather booties that you can wash or dispose of are also great (and protect those paws from heat).

🦮 Want us to do this when we take your dog on a walk? No problem. Leave out your booties, wipes, etc. and your pet caretaker will take the extra step to ensure your pet’s health and safety.

Here are some tips:

🐕‍🦺 Walk your dog in the morning

🏡 The safest place for your pets is inside! Pets can get a little kooky during these times so avoid any situation where your pet could get scared and try to run off.

➡️ Make sure your pets are wearing their collar and tags, and ensure your fence and doors are secured.

🐾 Do not take your pets to a crowded viewing event. Instead, keep them at home with a trusted pet caretaker or in somewhere that is comforting and cozy like a crate with soft blankets.

We’re so proud of Osiris’s progress since we started working with him a month ago 🐾 This young German Shepherd is a high energy guy who had some anxiety and needed some help with leash skills.

When we first started with him, he pulled a ton and whined for about the first half of the walk due to excess energy and anxiety.

Now he rarely whines and his pet caretakers have mastered walking (and sometimes even running!) him on leash 👏👏👏

We accomplished this through working as a team with his pet parent, constantly communicating what was working and what didn’t, and reported on his progress both in person and in detailed report cards sent out after every walk.
