A Look Back at December
Spay and neuter are central to our mission and our vision for ending the animal overpopulation crisis. Like many in this field, we are guided by mentors and equally committed to mentoring others.

That commitment was evident one weekend in December when our team supported a wet lab led by Shelly Liles, DVM. This hands on training allowed established veterinarians to refine spay/neuter techniques, prioritizing safety, confidence, and best practices.

The impact extends far beyond the wet lab, as these veterinarians return to their communities better equipped to save lives. A big shout out to Southern Veterinary Partners and Petco Love.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mug-Z-Moo for believing in and supporting our spay/neuter mission.

Today’s Juxtaposition!

Our surgical day included 27 pets and 27 community cats, so many wonderful animals came through our doors.
This pup was brought in by a devoted owner, while this cat arrived through our community cat program. What isn’t visible is that the veterinarian removed a pellet from the cat during surgery.

We’re thankful he had a caregiver looking out for him and we were able to give him the care he needed.

And just like that, Buddy was trapped.

He was first spotted in early August under the watchful eye of a few Good Samaritans. He wouldn’t let anyone approach, and it quickly became clear the coulee had become his home base. Neighbors set up a feeding schedule and kept watch, but even after four long months, his guard never dropped.

They turned to their neighborhood page for help and within a week, more people joined in, a plan came together, and Buddy was safely trapped. He was also fully vetted, finally getting the care he had gone without for so long.

And just like that, he started acting like a normal dog.

Because of compassion, teamwork, good neighbors, Mickey’s Legacy, and Mug-Z-Moo, there’s now one less dog living alone in a coulee. And today, on our day off we’re especially grateful and truly understand the meaning of Thanksgiving!

“One of my neighbors feeds outside cats and doesn’t want to fix them. Can you help me help them?”

And just like that, a plan came together.

With support from Mickey’s Legacy, Mug-Z-Moo, a compassionate Medical Team and neighbor who refused to look the other way, 24 community cats have now been successfully TNVR’d.

Among them was a cat suffering from a long-standing, unrepairable eye injury. Getting trapped turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to her. Instead of continuing to struggle, she received medical attention and is now living a safe, pain-free life—finally able to just be a cat again.

We are incredibly grateful that this neighbor chose to do something instead of nothing.
Those choices are how lives—both feline and human—change for the better.

The demand for spay/neuter is so high when we have an opportunity, we seize it! 🩷Thank you to Dr. Heather, Asia, Chloe, Kristen, and all the amazing trappers for dedicating your time to help these two colonies. We may not have gotten every cat just yet, but we’re off to a strong start!

51 community cats trapped, neutered, vaccinated, and now on their way back home!
