This one is for the NEW M1A M14 owner. The manual most often sent with new SA M1As is inadequate, to say the least. An M14-type rifle requires GREASE. Oil is not enough to prevent binding and you will have issues. Specifically, the Bolt roller, Locking Lugs of the bolt, the guideway for the left lug inside the receiver, the Op-Rod track on the right side of the receiver, the "HUMP" of the OP-Rod, The Op-Rod spring guide, the Spring and The Op-Rod Guide. Specific tools make the job of disassembling the rifle completely to clean and lubricate much easier. And in the case of the bolt safe.

The Sadlak Gas Cylinder Wrench alone is worth its weight in gold. When you try field stripping a heavily used rifle where the gas plug has grown to the cylinder. That wrench and the M14 Combo tool are invaluable.
