☀️Heat Exhaustion Awareness☀️

It’s going to be very hot this week in Lafayette! Heat exhaustion is on the rise this summer in our patients. Heat exhaustion can be deadly and can happen very quickly. Pet parents of puppies and senior pets need to be more cautious when leaving pets outside for extended periods of time. If you own a short nosed pup, your pet is also at an extreme high risk for heat exhaustion. When letting your pet outside to potty or play, always makes sure they have cold fresh water and shade. Listed below are symptoms of heat exhaustion. If you think your pet may have heat exhaustion call our office immediately. 337-981-7998

🐾Heavy panting and difficulty breathing
🐾Excessively drooling
🐾Bright red gums and tongue
🐾Skin is hot to the touch
🐾The dog appears lethargic, drowsy or uncoordinated
