This beautiful girl found herself behind bars and waiting to be moved up the euthanasia list because no one wanted her.
Once again, with a wonderful team effort, Thank you Eddie Lindley with James Bros. Bikes , Macy's life was spared.
Her fur/skin was in horrible conditions!
Hair loss which made me think mange, but she had 0 mites and no "mange" per say, but we treated it as such.
Gave her medicated baths, bravecto and started her on some kibble.
Her skin gradually cleared up but then got worse again, even with her being on sensitive food, so a trip to the vet we went where again, we did a skin scraping, no mites so doc said she probably has and will always have chronic allergies. He suggested we start her on some prednisone. I also stopped all chicken products, which was extremely difficult because everything has chicken or a chicken byproduct in it and put her on beef and she started clearing up quickly.
She made great progress!
Salmon oil for the win! And medicated baths!
She made a ton of friends!
And of course she was fully vetted and heartworm negative!
And as her luck would have it, she was welcomed into New England Lab Rescue with open arms as a foster was found!!
Our precious cargo made her way North Saturday, Thank you Tracey Martin Drake for taking her to meet her Transport ❤️ and is now CHILLIN in the bait 🐟 & tackle shop in Salisbury Mass!!

Cash found himself incarcerated at Russell County-Phenix City Animal Shelter
Annette with Operation Dog Tag - Ft Moore reached out and had a foster to save his life, so of course I said YES, because I am FULL!
FOSTERS SAVE LIVES!
I IMMEDIATELY made a phone call to get him into the vet since the foster lives a couple hours away!
The next day he was fully vetted where we did discover he was a weak heartworm positive with microflaria.
Not a major issue as we have been down this road MANY times!
He was released from the vet with doxycline, pain meds, 3 months of nexgard plus and the cone of shame, just incase! I wanted to make sure he had what he needed as I always do!
He has an amazing foster and has another foster to potentially adopt coming up next month!
🐾 crossed!!
I can't stress enough that when folks work together, precious lives CAN be saved!
I also have to say one more time, FOSTERS SAVE LIVES!!

❤️Meet Lola.
She is about 40 lbs and full of personality.
She likes to play outside and inside with lots of toys and is friendly with other dogs and cats. She has her rabies shot, is chipped, and spayed. She eats twice a day and we think she is about 1-2 years old but not sure of that. Lola was rescued from Buena Vista Rd in January of this year and near starving. She has put her weight back on and is incredibly happy with life again.
She is perfectly healthy and well fed and ready for her new home. 🏠

You were unsure of where you were but you had a kind lady named Amber made sure to work with you and get you a rescue, which she did. She is an amazing soul and i am so greatful you had her on your side big boy!!
We got you out, to the vet where it was noted again that you were a fairly old old man.
You were heartworm positive, skin and bones, smelled horrible, matted up galore (couldn't even tell if you were a boy or a girl hence the name Dutchess)and just needed some TLC....
TLC is exactly what you got and then some.
Shopping spree for some good food, toys and balls..
We quickly learned what your favorite was.. balls!!!
We got you a bath, haircut and a nail trim, which u didn't like at all but you did it!!
We saw that beautiful man under all that fur and you were so greatful!!
You made new friends and had Fosters moms and me who loved u every second of every day, and for that I am furever greatful. Your team of angels saved you...

1 year and 1 month and 14 days was all the time we had to show you how much your life mattered.

Sasha has been blessed with a wonderful home and is having the time of her life.
Which is the best blessing considering where she and the others lives could have ended, on that dark, desolate, deserted road that many lives are dumped to die or have already met their fate.
Again, I cannot thank those who share enough!!

How many times do we see someone say not to comfort a scared dog because it will reinforce their fear? This is an incredibly damaging myth, and one that will not help your scared dog at all.
Fear is an emotion, not a behaviour, and it cannot be reinforced in the same way as a behaviour can. That's not to say that how we respond can't have an effect on the dog's fear - it's important to sound and remain calm and soothing - but emotions cannot be reinforced simply by offering comfort to the scared dog.
Behaviours that we reinforce to encourage them and make them more likely to happen are the result of a conscious choice by the dog. That is how positive reinforcement works - the choice to do a particular thing results in something good, something the dog likes or wants. That could be an extrinsic reward like treats, fuss, or a toy, or an intrinsic internal reward such as being able to carry out a natural behaviour that is self-rewarding for the dog.
Emotions like fear are not based on conscious decisions. Fear is not something the dog chooses to feel. Something has triggered the dog's survival instinct, their survival mechanism, and the dog's body and brain leap into action to protect the dog from this thing.
It doesn't matter if the thing the dog is scared of is a real threat or not - for the dog it is perceived as a threat and it's important for us to help them, whether that is getting them more distance from what has scared them, or providing comfort and attempting to help them to feel safer if more distance is not possible (for example fireworks, thunder, or gunshots) or we can't see what is triggering the response.
A scared dog is not being silly or trying to be awkward. They are scared and in survival mode. They need empathy and understanding, and it's up to us to provide those for them.

Who would have thought he would be even more handsome with a fresh cut from the groomers!! Who remembers Charles who was dying on the Russell County-Phenix City Animal Shelter floor suffering from a 107.1 temp along with pneumonia and massive fluid in his lungs?? Well he is now Sully and he is all better! Happy, healthy and ready to become a permanent resident in someones heart and home. He is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines and is scheduled for neuter on the 2nd!! He is the sweetest boy weighing in at 72 lbs and is a Labradoodle. He had also thrown up a sock and a washcloth which was double alarming as now were thinking he has a blockage. We had to pay a 1k deposit for this boy to walk into the doors at Auburn. They took him right to isolation. Apon exam his temp was 105.2! They immediately started cooling him down with iv fluids and antibiotics. Scans were done showing he did not have a blockage however, his stomach is FULL of fluid. He had aspirated while vomiting which has caused fluid in his lungs to linger causing him now to have a upper respiratory infection along with pneumonia. As that wasn't bad enough, the scans reviewed a healed fractured rib. He has been released from Auburn and now with his loving foster so he can rest and heal. He has to remain confined while taking several different types of medication in the comforts of his brand new crate, bed and warm humidifier. ❤️ 🐾 He is on a strict gi wet food diet, several small meals throughout the day so we do not cause swelling in the belly to cause him to vomit or aspirate more . This boy is just the sweetest and deserved every stone to be unturned to get to the route of his illness. He will have a follow up appt with our primary vet next week. Slow and steady wins the race Charles, we got you baby boy!! Donations are still desperately needed to take care of his remaining bill and future bills per follow up appointments.
