Our four-legged friends got dressed up to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🐾🎄We will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's day, but we will be operating normally otherwise! These sweethearts (and many others) would love to find their forever homes before the new year.🏠🥰

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!🎄

To ensure our animals are cared for and staff have time to see their families, we will be closed to the public on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We are wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! We will be open again on Friday the 26th.🐾

💜 Meet Hefty 💜

Hefty is 10 years old and was surrendered to us in July due to her owner's declining health. She is front-declawed and needed her left eye removed as a result of a corneal ulcer, but has otherwise been in good health!

As Hefty has settled in, she has shown herself to be a gentle, affectionate cat who enjoys a quiet lifestyle. She loves lounging in cozy spots and appreciates butt scratches once trust is established.🥰 She also wouldn't say no to some yummy wet food and fishy flavored treats!

Hefty would do best in a calm, low-activity home where she can adjust at her own pace. For this reason, we are seeking a foster-to-adopt placement to give her the best chance at a successful transition.

Because of your unwavering support, we are so much closer to finding Pita a forever home! With your donations and outreach, we have raised all the money we need to cover her heartworm treatment. Thank you to all of the generous donors who took time out of their holiday season to help our sweet Pita in her journey to be healthy again! Her road to recovery may be long, but she has a bright, healthy future ahead of her because of you! 🥰🐾

Our Almost Home team (not all pictured) had such a fun time celebrating our holiday party at Main Street Amusements! 🎄 We enjoyed playing games, sharing lots of laughs, and spending time together outside of the shelter. Shelter work can be both mentally and physically exhausting, making these moments a much needed refresher!

We want to give a huge thank you to the owner of Main Street Amusements, Dan, for his incredible generosity, not only welcoming us to enjoy games on a night he'd typically be closed, but also for making a very generous, surprise donation to our shelter. Support like this makes a real difference for the animals in our care, and we are so grateful to be part of such a caring community! 🐾💙

🌟 Neptune’s Christmas Wish Came True! 🌟

After 500+ days of waiting, our sweet boy Neptune finally got the greatest gift he could ever ask for… a family of his very own.
We first met Neptune when he was just a 19 pound pup, tied to a pole and left alone. He grew up here with us through puppyhood, awkward teenage dog days, and through all the seasons as he watched other dogs go home.

Seeing him walk out the doors with his people was a true Christmas miracle, while gaining some watery eyes from the staff that have been with him since the beginning. 🎁🐾

To everyone who rooted for Neptune, shared his story, sent him love, spent time visiting him, and never stopped believing that his day would come, thank you. Because of you, this sweet boy gets to spend his first Christmas in a real home, curled up on the couch where he belongs. ❤️🎄

📣Help Us Help Her - Meet Our Newest Survivor, Pita🐾

Pita is a beautiful brindle pup that just arrived to Almost Home after being pulled from a euthanasia list. She was a shut down, scared girl, but has started to blossom! She's a large breed lady, around 2 years old, and has been sweet as can be. Since she's arrived, she's been nothing but a gentle giant! Though initially shy, Pita arrived with another dog and has been friendly with everyone and everything she's met so far.

Sadly, Pita is heartworm positive. 😞 While her prognosis is good, her road to recovery will be long and costly. Treatment includes long-term housing with restricted exercise, medications, a hospital stay, and two injections, expected to total $1400. Our goal for all our animals are healthy, long lives so we're committed to making sure Pita gets the same! ❤

UPDATE: Wolfy and Smokey have been adopted! 🥰
Meet Wolfy, Smokey, and Raven! 🐺🐾🐦‍⬛

These cuties are 7 month-old siblings looking for their own cozy homes. They love wet food, lounging around people watching, cuddling up together, and don't seem to mind other cats. They can be playful and silly once they're comfortable, they'll just need a second to warm up in their new home. Their fourth sibling, Stormy, has already been adopted and is thriving! It's now their turn! ❤

Wolfy and Smokey are long-haired grey beauties, and Raven is a sleek, black short-haired, sweetheart. These siblings don't need to be adopted together, and can find their own homes! Though, they definitely wouldn't mind heading home together, for those looking for more than one companion.

You can meet these three, or any of our other adoptable cats, anytime we're open. There's no appointment needed to visit, and we can provide same day adoptions! 📆

UPDATE: Nala has been adopted! 🤩
Say hello to Simba and Nala - two 6-year-old chihuahua mixes! 🐾❤️

These little lovebugs are shy at first, but once you earn their trust, they melt right into your arms. They absolutely adore being held and doted on. 💕

Simba and Nala are looking for a quieter home with a patient adopter who can give them the gentle encouragement they need to blossom. They've done wonderfully with cats here at the shelter and have previously lived with several other small dogs, so they'd fit right in with a calm fur family.

If you're looking for a tender-hearted companion (or two) to cherish, Simba and Nala are ready to meet you! 🏠✨

During the Star City Night Festival, many guests helped weave a beautiful rug made exclusively from T-shirts, auctioned it off, and donated the proceeds to AHHS to help the animals in our care. We are so grateful for this kindness, and for the unwavering support we receive from our community every day. Your creativity and compassion help us keep tummies full and tails wagging. 🐶💕
