An Update on Pita! ❤

We wanted to update everyone that heard about sweet Pita and her journey with us as she battled heartworms. This weekend, she received her injections, and is on 30 days of rest and leash walks. She did so well for the veterinarian, showing her true "gentle giant" personality. While she rests, she's been enjoying plenty of treats, and is a rockstar cuddler!

Pita is available for a foster-to-adopt home that is able to follow her recovery protocol! She will need a low-activity household, with leash walks for potty breaks only, at this point in her recovery. Looking for a Netflix buddy? 🎥 She'd love to join you!

Thank you to everyone that contributed to Pita's treatment and her continued journey. We really can't express enough how much that support means to our staff, volunteers, and most importantly, our animals. Every donation makes a huge difference to our mission. Happy New Year from the staff and residents at AHHS! 💫🐾

We will be closed to the public today, but our staff will be here as always making sure every dog gets their walks and every cat gets their cuddles. We are wishing everyone a year full of love, wagging tails, and new beginnings! 💕🎉

These sweethearts have been waiting 6 months or longer for their forever homes, and they're still hoping their perfect match is out there. Each one has so much love to give and would make the new year even brighter for the right family.🌟

We are so incredibly thankful to everyone who donated to our Giving Tree this year. We received many much-needed supplies, enrichment items, and comforts that will help make each animal’s stay a little brighter.☀️

Not every donation we received is pictured, but we wanted to share some of the amazing group and large donations that came in. Every single gift, no matter the size, helps us continue our mission and reminds us how lucky we are to be surrounded by such a kind, compassionate, and giving community. Merry Christmas!🎁

Our four-legged friends got dressed up to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🐾🎄We will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's day, but we will be operating normally otherwise! These sweethearts (and many others) would love to find their forever homes before the new year.🏠🥰

To ensure our animals are cared for and staff have time to see their families, we will be closed to the public on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We are wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! We will be open again on Friday the 26th.🐾

💜 Meet Hefty 💜

Hefty is 10 years old and was surrendered to us in July due to her owner's declining health. She is front-declawed and needed her left eye removed as a result of a corneal ulcer, but has otherwise been in good health!

As Hefty has settled in, she has shown herself to be a gentle, affectionate cat who enjoys a quiet lifestyle. She loves lounging in cozy spots and appreciates butt scratches once trust is established.🥰 She also wouldn't say no to some yummy wet food and fishy flavored treats!

Hefty would do best in a calm, low-activity home where she can adjust at her own pace. For this reason, we are seeking a foster-to-adopt placement to give her the best chance at a successful transition.

Because of your unwavering support, we are so much closer to finding Pita a forever home! With your donations and outreach, we have raised all the money we need to cover her heartworm treatment. Our Almost Home team (not all pictured) had such a fun time celebrating our holiday party at Main Street Amusements! 🎄 We enjoyed playing games, sharing lots of laughs, and spending time together outside of the shelter. Shelter work can be both mentally and physically exhausting, making these moments a much needed refresher!

We want to give a huge thank you to the owner of Main Street Amusements, Dan, for his incredible generosity, not only welcoming us to enjoy games on a night he'd typically be closed, but also for making a very generous, surprise donation to our shelter. Support like this makes a real difference for the animals in our care, and we are so grateful to be part of such a caring community! 🐾💙
