Meet Angel. Angel showed up at our wellness office today after being found two days ago in a dog crate that had been thrown into a dumpster. Her rescuers said she smelled like she had been doused in bleach. They cleaned her up then brought her in for further evaluation. Angel’s skin was inflammed, she has experienced some hair loss, and her skin was covered in small bumps. We also noted a mite infestation. On top of that the tendons in both of Angel’s carpi (wrists) appear to be hyperextended. Today, Angel received an a long-lasting antibiotic injection, non-steroidal anti-itch medication, and initial treatment for her mites. We will be following up with Angel in the near future. From her dentition, Angel appears to be about four months old. A generous, anonymous donor helped with Angel’s care. You can help animals like Angel by donating to our D.A.D. (Darby Animal Devotional) Fund. The D.A.D. Fund is our in-house sick and injured animal fund, set up to aid in situations like this. We will keep you up on Angel’s progress through this page.

Meet Rosie. She is a Corgi mix that was found on the side of the road, weakened and near death due to exposure and starvation. This sweetheart is a true survivor and will be available for adoption after we fattened her up a bit.
Check out the heartworm microfilaria we discovered in a blood sample of one of our patients today. Mosquitos ingest these little guys when feeding on one dog then later pass them to the next dog during another feeding. Remember that we are doing FREE heartworm screens this month. Is you dog protected?
