A heartbreaking message from Baxter's family:
Missing from Maurice, Louisiana
We are approaching the 1-month mark of our beloved Baxter going missing. The unknow is what hurts the most. If he has succumbed to elements or predators, I wish we know so we can properly grieve him. If someone has him, I have accepted the probably will not return him so I would like to share a few things about him so you can better care for him.
• His birthday is 5-24-2022 and he likes cake!
• He is not microchipped as he was a 100% inside dog (we have learned our lesson as we thought he was) so please take him to the vet.
• He is due for annual vaccine and rabies shot in October.
• He needs a probiotic every day and watch for his allergies as he needs medicine routinely.
• He has been fed salmon kibble his whole life as he does not do well with Chicken or Beef.
• I work from home, so he is accustomed to 24/7 attention. I would break several times during the day and yell “puppy time” so he knew it was 5-10 mins with mom playing.
• 4th of July is coming up and he is very fearful of loud noises. Make sure you give him calming medicine 2hrs before fireworks begin and wrap him in covers so he feels safe.
• His favorite thing is the pool, though he can’t swim well, he hung out on the doggie swim deck daily to cool himself off when he went out.
• His skin can get dry easy so coconut oil nightly will help that.
• He likes to suck on your fingers or a pacifier when he gets anxious as well.
• His favorite treat is carrots and celery.
• He does better with another dog, as he has always had his brother, Cooper with him.
• If he is throwing up after he eats get him a slow feeder as sometimes, he eats too fast.
• Every night for 2yrs straight he heard “night, night, I love you and I will see you in the morning” before bed and he knew it was time to lay down.
Mostly if you are reading this, know he is missed, and we would do just about anything to have him home. If you have, please cherish him the way we have and love him like he is your child because we sure do. There is still $1,000 reward/finder’s fee and no questions would be asked. We are just devasted without Baxter! Call 217-722-0519 if you know his whereabouts.
He's been missing since 6/4/24 from Magnolia Subdivision off 92 between Milton and Maurice.
