About Us
Southern Tradition Dog Training Kennels is a small family - owned and operated full time dog training and boarding facility. Jerry and Dawn along with their three children have specialized in Obedience, Hunting Retriever, Animal Recovery Training and more since 1989. We are located in Southeast Louisiana in the small fishing community known as the town of Jean Lafitte, we offer several different training programs to best fit you and your companions needs.
While at STDT Kennels your companion will recieve the personal attention they need because we only accept and train a limited amount ( 10 - 12 dogs maximum ) of dogs at one time to ensure each dog will reach their full potential. We will train your dog to any level you would like them to reach. From basic obedience, to retrievers going on blind retrieves with hand signals to guide them, to achieving AKC and UKC titles.
STDT Kennels understands that each dog learns at different speeds and that no two dogs are the same. We adjust our training programs to fit each individual dog. Before you leave your companion with us for training, we will go over the different programs that best fit your needs.
During the training process you will recieve updates so you can track their individual progress. STDT Kennels will be completely upfront and honest with you about your dogs abilities. There have been several hunting retrievers over the years that have begun as just a hunting companion and became a hunting champion because that special something came out in training and we decided to go to the next level.
