Meet Midnight!
Midnight doesn't know what a stranger is. She's the friendliest little lady in town and loves to just sit next to you and spend time in your presence. She also needs to have eye surgery that's going to cost $650.

See, Midnight's right eye needs to be entirely removed. She's lost vision and the eye gives her some discomfort. The enucleation (the eye removal surgery) will relieve all of that discomfort. It was also allow our vets to figure out what caused her eye to become so damaged, whether that be from a tumor or a medical condition she needs treated.

If you would like to donate to help us get Midnight's eye removed, checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 1351, Lagrange, GA, 30241. You can also donate directly on our website at https://lagrangehumane.org/donate/

This is Cleo, a.k.a. Tippy!

She's a sweet one year old female hound mix who's had a pretty rough start. We are grateful to our friends at the City of LaGrange Animal Services for starting her on her journey to a new and better life! While in their care, she was able to get a much needed surgery to remove a leg that was injured beyond repair. They sent her to Auburn University to be spayed, and then she came to us to help her find her fur-ever family. When we met Cleo, you could see the fear in her eyes. SO much had happened in such a short period of time, and she didn't know who or what to expect next!

We knew exactly who to call!! One of our amazing fosters has a three-legged pup that has learned all the ins and outs of getting around without that pesky front limb... who better to show Cleo!?! Within just a day or two, her foster mama and fur-brother had her splashing, playing, and learning to love life again!! She's done well with the other dogs we've introduced her to, as long as they don't get too rough and knock her over! She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and is ready to find her family!!

People are often worried about adopting a dog with a disability. They worry that they aren't equipped with the skills needed to take care of a dog with a disability. The truth is, Cleo is just like every other dog (minus one leg). She loves to run, play, and get plenty of treats and belly rubs. Having her leg amputated has made her life so much easier and has allowed her to truly thrive. If you think your home just won't be complete without the love of this amazing pup, give us a call today to set up a meet and greet appointment! (706) 415-1265.

RIO HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!! After being a humane society dog for 485 days, Rio has finally found his forever home! We are so thankful to his new mom for seeing in him what we've always tried to show others: a sweet, silly, and beautiful soul. This truly is the best birthday present any of us could've asked for 🩷🐾

If you are interested in adopting a dog (Our other long term resident, Roscoe, perhaps?), check out our dogs at the Lagrange-Troup County Humane Society! Happy tails, Rio!

EDIT: RIO HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Rio turned 2 years old this past week! The next day was our admin's birthday, so she planned on sponsoring his adoption fee as a present to them both...BUT SHE DIDNT HAVE THE CHANCE TO! The Boatwright family sponsored both Rio AND Roscoe's adoption fees! If you're looking for a dog friendly silly goose that is deeply confused by water, consider adopting Rio from us at the Lagrange-Troup County Humane Society!

If you want to celebrate Rio's birthday in a different way, please consider donating! You can buy things off our amazon wish list (https://a.co/0PpmEPM) or send a monitary donation (https://lagrangehumane.org/donate/). You can also send a monitary donation to P.O. Box 1351 LaGrange GA 30241. If that's not your style, consider volunteeting!

Happy birthday, Rio! Though we're sad you've spent a year with us, we're thankful we get to see you grow and be the best boy in town!

Happy Friday! Tango is hoping today will be the lucky day he meets his furever family!!!

We are taking foster-to-adopt applications asap! You don't want to miss out on this sweet little guy!!!

We would like to thank you all for your help yesterday finding our beloved Roscoe. He was in the backyard of his foster family, unattended, when a firetruck went by the house. It scared him so bad that he hopped the family's 4ft fence. He was found by Officer Mixon at a house on the same street, having let himself into the home owners' backyard. Officer Mixon brought him back to us, and we are so thankful for his help. He is completely fine and healthy, with exception of a few scratches here and there. Your support and help allowed us to find our boy safe, and we are incredibly grateful. We, however, would like to push a little more and see of you could help us and Roscoe again.

Roscoe's foster family decided that they were not the right family for him after the events of yesterday, and that's ok. Though we are all saddened that the placement didn't work out, we are incredibly thankful for the work his former fosters did with him. If you are considering adopting a dog or fostering, please consider Roscoe.

We don't want there to be any illusion or miscommunication- Roscoe is not a highly trained dog nor pure bred with papers. He's been one of our humane society dogs for a year, and was brought in at about 6mo old. He's 2 now, meaning he's been a shelter dog for a majority of his life. He's scared of cars and has some resource guarding issues. If someone comes into the house unexpectedly (in his eyes), he will bark and try to protect the house and his people. He nipped when a member of his former foster family tried to take his toy. He then proceeded to put himself in time out because he knew he had done something wrong. See, Roscoe wants to do the right thing, but he just doesn't know what the right thing is.

All we ask is that you consider him. Roscoe is neutered and fully vaccinated. He loves to give kisses, and is quite smart! We're currently working on training him, and he's already learning "lay down" really well. He loves toys and treats, and will even bring you his water bowl if it's empty. Fastenal was kind enough to sponser his vet fees, and Roscoe was so good when we brought him in to meet their team. He's such a wonderful boy; all he needs if for someone with the time and patience to look his way.

Our sweetest boy, Rio, has lived in a shelter for more than half of his short life. 😢

This crazy boy is 2 years old, current on vaccinations, neutered, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and full of love... and ENERGY!!

NO CATS for this boy!
Definitely no cats for this boy!!!
He has liked the other dogs we've introduced him to, but we always recommend bringing your pup to meet him before adopting.

His ideal family will be an active one!! He would be a perfect hiking/running companion!!

If you would like to meet our big, goofy boy, give us a call at our new number (706) 415-1265

Due to recent changes in the building, we will be making some big changes! If you've been in, you've probably noticed that we're moving our office space around. This is to fit with our new changes. We hope you guys will continue to support us like you always have.

CHANGE 1: OFFICE HOURS
The Lagrange Troup County Humane Society will no longer be open from 10:00-3:00 Monday-Friday. We are moving to an appointment based system due to staffing changes. We still offer same day adoptions! We ask that you guys give us a call at our office number so (if we aren't in the office) we can head up and meet you. Speaking of...

CHANGE 2: OUR PHONE NUMBER
We no longer use the 706-298-3608 phone number. Our new number is 706-415-1265! This is a mobile phone, so you'll be able to reach us while we're not at the humane society. This, however, comes with the qualifier that it will only be answered during office hours.

CHANGE 3: DONATIONS
You guys have always been so wonderful when it comes to giving us what we need. However, our needs are different now! We will no longer be accepting donations of linens (sheets, blankets, etc). If you would like to give to us, please consider the following:
🐾VOLUNTEERING!
🐾FOSTERING!
🐾SPREADING THE WORD!
🐾BUYING OFF OUR AMAZON WISHLIST! (https://a.co/0PpmEPM)
🐾GIVING MONETARILY! (https://lagrangehumane.org/donate/)
If you have physical things you would like to donate, we will still happily accept the following:
🐾BATH MATS
🐾DOG TOYS
🐾DOG COLLARS AND LEASHES
🐾NON-OPENED PET FOOD AND TREATS
🐾A SINGULAR DESK CHAIR WITH WHEELS SO WE DON’T HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER ONE(UPDATE: WE HAVE A CHAIR NOW THANK YOU!!!!)
If you have linens you would like to donate, please consider taking them to LaGrange - Troup County Homeless Coalition (AKA Branches of Hope)! They provide emergency and transitional housing for people facing homelessness and work very hard to help our community. I believe they need clear plastic totes and laundry detergent, so consider donating those to them if you have the means!

Because of the situation behind the scenes, we had to make these changes for the good of our dogs. We cannot help our dogs if we are unable to help ourselves, and these changes will allow the staff of the LTCHS to be less overwhelmed. These decisions and changes were not made without long and serious thought and discussion. We thank you for your patience during these changing times, and appreciate your support dearly.

Here are some silly dog photos as a thank you for reading all of this ❤ (PS. All of these dogs are available for adoption!)

He is crate trained, but hasn’t been neutered yet. his current owner isn't sure how old he is (he was a rescue), but they think he maybe 4-6 months. He has had his 1st set of puppy shots but will need further vetting. If you are interested in meeting Roscoe, please contact them at (706) 298-9345.

Help Needed!

Meet Babs and Polly Pocket! These sweet babies came to us 2 and a half weeks ago in pitiful shape! 😔 They had fleas crawling all over them, they were fearful of people, and oh so thin!! We've gotten them fattened up a bit, but both girls need medical intervention as soon as possible! Babs (black and white, 5 year old female) has a very large mammary tumor that needs to be removed in addition to her spay and standard vetting. Polly Pocket (cream colored, 2 year old female) has an old injury in her right, front leg that has healed improperly and is causing her a good bit of pain. The Vet's office has recommended amputation for her. Between the two, our surgery bill will be almost $1800. Please help us help these sweet little ladies get ready to find their furever family!!

Checks can be mailed to:
LaGrange Troup County Humane Society
P.O. Box 1351
LaGrange, GA 30241

Or you can use the link below to make a donation by credit/debit card on our website.

Please notate that the payment is for the chihuahua girls vetting.

This baby needs a new home!! Here is what his current owner had to say about him:

"He is a 7 month old Pit/ German Shepard mix. He was born October 13, 2023. He is the most cuddly dog in the world. He talks like crazy. Not barks, he talks. He “A-woo-woo”s at you. He is crate and house trained. He is good with cats and dogs. He loves water. He is an absolutely amazing dog. I want to find him a loving home where he can flourish and get all the love in the world."

He is not currently in our building, so message us your contact info or give us a call if you're interested in meeting him!

Reunited, and it feels so good!! The dynamic duo is back together again! Reba and Chaplin came in together originally! Reba was adopted and left Chaplin behind. Once Reba got settled into her new home, her new mama decided she wanted a friend for Reba. And what better friend could there be than the one that's been with her all along? Look at those happy faces!!

When Goose first came to us, he was so terrified of everything and everyone! He would stay as far back in his condo as he could and wouldn't look at us. He jumped and ran away every time we tried to touch him. It took WEEKS for us to be able to pick him up and handle him, and he still wasn't a huge fan of it. He slowly came out of his shell a little. Not necessarily with us, but he found a toy that he loved and began to play. Then we figured out that he LOVES other dogs! So he started having play dates with our other dogs, and that's where we were really able to discover that he has a personality and is actually a funny, sweet little thing! He stayed with us for nearly 6 months. Not really making a ton of progress with us by ourselves, but improving leaps and bounds whenever another dog was around! Then, one day, we got a phone call from a man who had adopted from us years ago and lost his precious boy not too long ago. He seemed 100% sure that he could get Goose to come around to him and said he would come visit him the next day. We hung up, feeling happy that someone was willing to try, but not completely convinced that Goose would come around to him. The next day came, and wouldn't you know it, that man was right and Goose went on home with him!! Happy Tails, baby boy!
