Happy New Year to our MHIY Family. 2025 went out with heartache but as they say, its better to have loved and lost than to never love at all.
MHIY was founded on love. The love to care for those who cannot speak for themselves. We started this rescue with love and we have been supported by those who have gotten to know us over the years. Numerous emergency calls, help in situations that seemed impossible, educating those who didn't know better.....All because of love that has spread like wildfire through the hearts in this rescue community.
2025 was hard. working has taken me away from social media posts and from keeping even my closest peeps informed of our wins, struggles and dreams.
Thank you to those who have stuck by all the silence, understanding my brokenness and fir being patient as I make plans for a bigger solution to the small animal crisis...YES, CRISIS, in the Hudson Valley.

Business plan in the making, awesome events in the upcoming months and I am glad to be back.

We are HOPEless.

May of 2020 my daughter and son in law rescued a 7 month old pup from a life of living in a chicken coop as she had a tiny heart murmur. (not sure where 20 months came from) The tiny heart murmur was in fact a level 4 and on top of that we discovered this beautiful pup was born with only 1 kidney. That wasn't enough though...that kidney was also malformed causing chronic UTI"S. Hope received anial echo cardiograms to monitor her heart. She was on heart meds and also prescription foods.
we were estimated her to live to be 2...but this girl earned her name. Hope gave us 5 years and 7 months. She beat all odds and lived to be 6years and 2 months old.
Fir those who knew her, Im sorry I cant call you personally. You know she was my heart pup.....she was born on my birthday and truly took a huge piece of me when she left.
We will heal in time and be able to smile thinking of:
"The best, worst dog ever"
"Hopey D***y"
"Hopalicous"
and most of all, we will miss being "Hopafied"
REST IN PIECE MY GIRL. we love you.

In honor of Nathan, mom signed up for 2 slots of our $5.00 a month program and sent us some items from our chewy wishlist list. I will post when it comes.

today we said goodbye to our sweet boy Diego. Many of you knew him personally, and when he went down in 2020 you all rooted for him as he made a full recovery in our kitchen.
Diego leaves behind his twin brother Sid, and his brothers from another mother Crash, Kirby and Gus. Diego was however the absolute GOAT and will be sorely missed.
Diego is in this video near Daniella as she records. His brother Sid is playing with the boys when they were young. These goats have been a part of our lives for over 16 years. Enjoy the joy

Many of you may remember pre-Covid 1 of our favorite programs was visiting nursing homes and rehab facilities to bring smiles to the elderly and disabled community.
We are blessed to announce that we will be picking up again starting this Monday as we visit The Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing facility in Hopewell Junction, NY.
For those who do not know (as i have not posted in a long time), mom had a very bad fall right outside of her neurologist office. She landed on her nose and obviously it broke. I will leave out the gory details but she did receive a total of 5 units of blood and 1 unit of plasma. She has a cardiac event from the trauma (bruised heart) as well as some renal issues (from blood). She has been in rehab and is finally coming home this Thursday. (Thank you to all who have been so understanding in my lack of communication and application processing...you all are AMAZING and make up for those who had no regard for my mom or my overwhelming situation)
Just a reminder. I am human, I do not get paid to run this organization and I work three jobs to try to support the animals here along with those who donate through our $5 a month program. Prices have increased on food, bedding, electricity....(you get it), but the donations have diminished.
I ask you all to understand that even though there haven't been many posts, the rescue is still running full force!
We have a spay/neuter day this coming week for 10 animals and need to raise $1,250.00 to cover this cost. We spay/neuter almost every animal we can to avoid adding to the already impossible rehoming situation as well as for their health.

Now, this week there will be a lot of posts, I cannot guarantee every week will be like this but I will do my best to keep you all in the loop!

Gandalf is soo tiny, but he let me know he is in fact MIGHTY! Silver has the looooongest whiskers i have ever seen on a bun!
