The Blue Bell Foundation for Cats is a non-profit organization that manages a cage-free sanctuary for senior cats whose owners have died or who can no longer care for them. Blue Bell started as a boarding facility for cats in the early 1960s and today provides loving lifetime care for its feline residents, and peace of mind to those who entrust their cats to Blue Bell. Blue Bell cats reside in a v

intage cottage, which has been converted to a fully licensed facility, located in rustic Laguna Canyon. The cats have free rein throughout their cozy cage-free home, which offers cushy bedding, cat trees, and climbing and perching areas. Spacious enclosed catios complete with fountains, playhouses and climbers, provide the Blue Bell kitties with plenty of fresh air, outdoor scenery, bird watching and lounging. Blue Bell includes a separate “special needs” facility for cats with medical or behavioral issues, and is where new resident cats initially acclimate to their new home. The cats interact daily with volunteers and staff who provide lots of love, affection and playtime. Veterinary care is provided by Canyon Animal Hospital located within minutes of Blue Bell.

It’s Welcome Wednesday!! Please say a resounding Meow & Welcome to 12-year-old Little Miss Sunshine to Blue Bell! She arrived on Friday, June 14, when her owner who has a terminal illness, was no longer able to care for her.

She's a sweet-as-can-be dilute tortie, who loves people, wand toys, rolling in catnip, and basking in the sunshine. She stayed in her carrier for the first few days, but would come right out, the second you opened the door to her private room. When she sees you, she does the "happy tail" and stands on her hind legs, reaching out to pull your hand close for pets.

Coming from a single-cat household, we weren't sure how she would do with so many other cats, but she has done really well (she's a torie so has the 'tude and can hold her own). She is out in the community during the day, and has her own private enclosure at night, but should be out full-time in the next few weeks.
