“How much weight can a horse carry?

In my experience, a horse can carry an infinite amount.

They can carry the weight of broken hearts, broken homes, and broken bodies. Countless tears sometimes comb their tangled manes. Moments when parents and friends cannot be there to help and hold a person, horses embrace and empower. They carry physical, mental, and emotional handicaps. They carry hopes and dreams; and they will carry the stress from your day when you can't carry it anymore.

They carry graduations, they carry new careers, they carry moves away from everything familiar, they carry marriages, they carry divorces, they carry funerals, they carry babys before they are born, and sometimes they carry the mothers who cannot carry their own baby. They carry mistakes, they carry joy, they carry the good and they carry the bad. They carry drugs and addictions, but they also carry the celebrations.

They will carry you to success when all you have felt is failure. They will carry you, never knowing the weight of your burdens and triumphs.

If you let them, they will carry you through life, and life is hard, life is heavy. But a horse will make you feel weightless under it all.”

Would you like to support a local 501c3 non profit therapeutic riding program, while getting your business noticed?

Sponsors will get shares on our page, and added to our sponsor flyer which we will use at public events and be included in our welcome packets for riders.

Sponsorship options are as follows:
$150 for approx 2x2 ad spot and fb share
$250 for approx 4x4 ad spot and fb share
$350 for approx 6x6 ad spot and Fb share
$500 for approx 1/3 page ad spot and Fb share

Sponsorship flyers will be expire every three months. You will get the option to renew your current space at the current price, or a larger space if available (for additional cost).

Funding is needed for our program to run and excel. Horses will soon be needing their yearly exams and vaccines. With the drastic cold and rapid change in weather we will be experiencing this weekend, all hands are on deck! Our horses are checked on regularly, and we have a plan to keep them as safe and healthy as we possibly can. Prayers to all the livestock out there, and those that are working in it.

***Below is some critical information for horse owners to keep in mind.***

+**Have that banamine on hand and HAY 24/7 is critical!**+ Keep in mind your equine vet is very likely running from emergency call to the next, every second counts so being as proactive as you possibly can could result in saving a life!

⚠️Posting this as a friendly reminder to be prepared for the weekend ahead ⚠️
If your weather looks anything like ours, there will be a rapid temperature drop this Friday (of 35° or more in under 8 hours). This means our equine friends will be especially susceptible to colic as they do not handle quick weather changes well.

Here are a few tips to help mitigate the risks:
Make sure your horse is consuming plenty of water NOW!!!
• Add warm water to your horses grain (think soup!!)
• Ensure your horse has access to clean water (warm if possible) at all times.
• Offer extra hay for warmth.
Hindgut fermentation of long stem forage generates the heat required to keep your horse warm.
• Provide adequate shelter/keep stalled when possible. (There is supposed to be a serious wind chill.)
• Electrolytes w/salt can encourage them to drink.
• Heavier or double blanket as needed.
• Keep them dry!
• Deeply bedded stalls will provide additional warmth and better joint comfort.
• Have banamine & a re**al thermometer on hand.
• Check in on them regularly!

I fear our vets are going to have a very busy holiday weekend 😥
Be proactive!
Best wishes and have a happy holiday! 🎄🎁

Welcome, Levi! 👋
Levi is a 15 year old Kentucky Mountain Horse that came to us from New York. Levi had the important job of taking care of beginner riders while out on the trails. This handsome fellow will now be used in beginner & therapeutic lessons and equine assisted activities. Levi is enjoying a little winter break and looks forward to meeting his new friends this spring!
