I’m lucky to have someone that has her will, determination, and hardheadedness alongside me. From being a military cop, to a mother of three(with no epidurals-go woman power!), to a business owner. This is not our normal content, but I want a permanent spot for our Papa on here. Papa Norm was always in support of our farm when most everyone questioned our sanity. Thomas and I both left great jobs to build this company, and he cheered us on every step of the way. He helped Thomas with our shed build over FaceTime day after day without any complaints. He went above and beyond for all of us, and he deserves all the recognition. My only hope is that we can help half as many people as he did, and leave a legacy that won’t be forgotten. If I have learned anything these past two weeks, it is that tomorrow is not promised. If you are thinking about someone, give them a call. It only takes two minutes to tell someone you love them. We hope y’all have an amazing Holiday season. Our family will be traveling to California to spend time with family and will return after the holiday season with some updates. Like I mentioned in stories, we are still responding to DM’s so message us with any questions.

Saw Oyster Mushroom This is one of the most aggressive mushrooms I’ve ever worked with. Most of the time, it will begin trying to fruit before its substrate is fully colonized!! Originally cloned from a wild specimen in Upstate New York by @themushroomshopllc. A lot of people have mentioned that they get a peppery anise smell from it. Oyster mushrooms in general have always surprised me. In addition to being gourmet, edible mushrooms, they can also be trained to break down certain petroleum products! Sometimes, it’s difficult to remain positive when things like this happen. I always just try to remain neutral. Yes it is a set back. However, if you try to step back and focus on the macro, your business in 10 years isn’t going to remember the small fire that you had to put out at the beginning. Everyone is putting out small fires, regardless of if you are seeing it on social media or not. Stay happy and keep focused on the big picture. ^This is all I was going to say but here goes a semi-deep dive in to me, Thomas. I picked up my first self help book, The 4-Hour Work Week, back in 2011, in the midst of one of the darkest times in my life, while living in Korea. This was the day after we were instructed to call our parents to let them know that we may be going to war with the north and that we love them. I still remember my mom’s voice. Seeing the beach scene on the front cover caught my attention, the idea of a beach and a 4hww just did something for my soul. I have read self help books ever since then and now read about one book a week. When I’m driving, I listen to self help podcasts. On weekends and afternoons, I attend virtual conferences and summits regarding either business or mindset. That being said, it is still extremely hard to see the positive in some situations. College was another rough time for me. I knew it wasn’t going to provide the type of job that I wanted. I got through it and landed in what I thought was my dream job. Literally the upper echelon of sales. Then, I was never home. I never saw my kids. Christa would send me photos of them doing things in outfits that I had never seen before. Then, my oldest son inadvertently gave me the biggest gut check of my life. He asked Christa why it’s like daddy didn’t live at home anymore. It hurt me to my core. I knew I needed to do something. I ended up quitting to go work for some incredible entrepreneurs and my life started changing. I started to see the world through a different lens.
🍄 Let’s make grain bags! 🍄 We’re back from vacation! Such a much needed reset 🥹 Over the past few months, we have used a different method every time we have prepped grain. I know everyone has different preferences when it comes to grain prep. However, I’m going to say that for millet/milo, “No Soak, No Simmer” is our favorite and the quickest. We originally learned this method from @jessenoller on YouTube and stuck with it for a long time. After trying to find the perfect way, we are going back.
