Long time no post! Here’s Quinnley, my personal Service Dog, working on her heeling and focus in public. I’m not currently accepting new clients at this time but most likely will be during the spring or summer.🐕🦺
My 2 Border Collies walking together, working on leash manners❤️. Both around
10/11 months old.
Imo, It’s unfair to ask dogs to be in a heel at ALL TIMES - so this is your reminder to let your dog explore a bit 🙂. Everyone’s standards are different, but for me, as long as my dogs aren’t pulling - they’re good. All I want is for the leash to be pretty loose and occasional check-ins.
Anahlu, my 10 Month old Border Collie puppy, catching and retrieving a disc! 🥏
This is something we may be able to teach your pup too!😉
Wait until the beat drop 😉
I like to post mostly obedience content on this page, but figured I’d share this little trick/stunt edit I filmed with one of my dogs - Quinn - yesterday. It may seem like just tricks, but there’s really quite a bit of obedience incorporated into teaching this, believe it or not!
Impulse Control
Impulse Control! Anahlu here is working on controlling herself around moving things. This could be objects, other animals, people, etc. I used her disc in this because it’s something she loves to chase, so it made for a good distraction. Anahlu is a border collie, with natural herding type instincts, so it can be tough to teach, but she’s doing great with resisting the urge so far in the few sessions we’ve had. 🐾
This is just a little something I teach all my personal dogs and clients! They learn to wait until a release cue (“Okay”). Not only when it comes to leaving the kennel, but also doorways. My dogs and clients are absolutely not allowed to rush out a doorway before me. It’s important to teach for various reasons, but one being your dogs safety!
Just Beaux Bear learning to co exist with dogs and recall off them! This little guy leaves this evening. We’re gonna miss him!
Day 3 with Beaux Bear
Working on loose leash walking, recall and stay! All without treats ♥️
Dolly - Day 6
Just a little video I put together of miss Dolly’s progress thus far 🤍 Shes learning quite a bit!
I’ll have to film our recall & “leave it” work soon😄
Only 3 months old and already got this down😳 This was our first session. (Don’t worry, Quinn did indeed get treats after.. she’s not used to sharing the spotlight so much🤣)
Item Retrieval
Started teaching Nalu item retrievals today. She caught on rather fast I’d say! you can see it start to click more at the ending. It’s really all about timing and not letting it hit the floor! (a clicker will be your best friend for marking behaviors)
Nalu - 1st Week Home
Meet Anahlu.
On October 22nd, this pretty girl was transported to me from Arkansas. She is a blue merle border collie puppy!
The first few days were spent just letting Nalu settle in, but on day 3 we got to work!
Small things, of course, because she’s still a baby. Mostly we are working on the foundation of things and overall obedience.
here is a video of some of the things she has learned.🤍
Handstand with Quinn
In 6 sessions, Quinn has gotten this trick down! We still have to work on duration but she’s gotten it for the most part. I’m so proud of her! I thought i’d share even if it’s not my typical obedience post.
Stay Command
Lunah went home Friday (yesterday) after our 2 week board and train was completed. Even though as of now the majority of my training is over with her, i wanted to share another clip from Thursday when she was still here! Lunah had no clue what “wait” meant before she came to me from what i recollect, but this is her now🥰 she is a phenomenal dog and has done so well!
Improved Placework with Lunah
Wowie check out that place progress compared to my last post showing her placework! definitely had a breakthrough with this🙌
Placework with Lunah
This is Lunah! she’s a 2 year old female english lab, and she’s here for some basic obedience training. she just started her 2 week board and train with me yesterday (after a few private sessions) and she’s already making fast progress!
here is a little snippet of me introducing place to her, in order to build a stay command. she’s already surprisingly pretty confident with the cot! (though yes i will have to up her to the large one given the indents🤣)
Placework with Quinnley
we practiced some placework this evening.
having a solid “place” command is extremely important in my book as it’s super beneficial for when family and friends are over, or in any busy situation, really. it teaches the dog to have a designated spot, and not to move from said spot, until i give permission.
