Meet Beaux! The very first patient in our clinic to receive the Torigen vaccine to help him with his fight against mast cell tumors!
Mast cell tumors are one of the most common forms of skin cancer in dogs. Sweet Beaux has been battling them for years and has had multiple surgeries to remove the tumors, but unfortunately they keep coming back. Beaux is continuing his fight with the help of Dr. Fontenot and the Torigen vaccine treatment.
What is Torigen?
It is a vaccine that is made from the pet's own tumor cells and it stimulates the immune system with the hope that it will fight against future tumor development. Once the vaccine is created, it is administered under the skin once weekly for 3 weeks. These injections begin to train the immune system to find and kill cancer cells. It is know as cancer immunotherapy.
Dr. Fontenot and the team here at Gill Bright are excited to see this new treatment in action and we are rooting for Beaux every step of the way!!❤
