🎉🐴 BIG NEWS FROM THE BARN 🐴🎉

Remember our Employee of the Month, T-dreaux? Well, his trial period is over… and we’re beyond excited to say: He’s officially part of the Reins of Hope herd! 💛

T-dreaux came to us from a sweet, loving home that wanted to see him enjoy his retirement in a way that makes a difference, and he’s already proving to be a perfect fit for our therapeutic riding program. From his gentle spirit, to his calm steady steps, and even his snack-seeking charm, T-dreaux has won our hearts and the hearts of everyone he meets.

We are so grateful to his former family for trusting us with his next chapter, and we can’t wait to see all the joy, confidence, and healing he’ll bring to our riders.

🩷💜 Thank You Entergy! 💜🩷

Every step forward at Reins of Hope is powered by the generosity of community partners who believe in our mission. With support from organizations like Entergy, we're able to continue training new instructors, ensuring our services remain strong for years to come.

This kind of partnership means more than funding, it’s a shared commitment to growth, healing, and serving individuals in Lake Charles and surrounding areas. We’re so grateful for those who stand beside us as we continue building a future filled with possibility, one rider at a time.

🎉🏆 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH(…ish) 🏆🎉
Please give a big, hay-filled welcome to our newest "Employee in Training".....T-dreaux! 🐴💼

T-dreaux is the newest hopeful at Reins of Hope. He came to us from a sweet and loving home that wanted to see him enjoy his retirement in the best possible way, by helping others. While he’s still in his trial period, let’s just say… we’re pretty smitten. This handsome guy has been showing off all the right stuff: a kind heart, gentle steps, and a serious talent for winning over humans with his eyes (and his appetite).

He’s currently working on his resume to join our team full-time, and so far, he’s nailing it. Will he officially join the herd? Keep your eyes on this rising star to find out! We’re excited to see what T-dreaux’s future holds, and we think you’ll be excited too!

📞🐴 Buttercup is still holding down the front desk like a pro! 🐴📞

As our Employee of the Month and self-appointed Head Receptionist, Buttercup has been taking her duties very seriously.

Whether she’s greeting riders with a warm nuzzle, supervising barn activity from her post, or gently reminding us it's snack time (again 🥕), Buttercup continues to set the standard for customer service here at Reins of Hope.

Her highlights this week include:
🔔 Welcoming new participants with calm, collected charm
📋 Observing all paperwork from over the stall door
📞 Neighing politely at every passing staff member
💼 Never missing a shift, unless there's hay involved

She’s proving every day why she earned that “Employee of the Month” title, and we wouldn’t have it any other way 💛

🐴🍫 Happy World Chocolate Day! 🍫🐴
While we humans might be indulging in sweet, fudgy goodness today, keep the chocolate FAR away from your horses! ❌🍫

Why?
Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, both of which are toxic to horses, even in small amounts. It can lead to health issues, including heart problems and nervous system dysfunction.

So as much as they’d love to join our sweet tooth celebration, they’ll stick to safe snacks:
🥕 Carrots
🍎 Apples
🍉 Watermelon

So, while you're savoring your sweets, show your horse some love with a chunk of juicy watermelon instead! 🐴❤️

🌟🏆 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH ALERT 🏆🌟
Big congrats to our very own Buttercup for being crowned Employee of the Month here at Reins of Hope! 🎉🐴💼

Despite having hooves and an aversion to voicemail, Buttercup has truly excelled as our "Head Receptionist". She greets every guest with a neigh, a nod, and the occasional gentle nose boop. She’s never late, always enthusiastic, and has only chewed on two clipboards this month, progress!

📞 Calls? Ignored.
📋 Paperwork? Eaten.
🐴 Vibes? Immaculate.

Please join us in congratulating Buttercup on her outstanding performance and commitment to barn morale. 🐎💖

2025 has, and will continue to be an amazing year of growth here at Reins of Hope, not just for our program, but for the incredible individuals we serve.

This ride marks a powerful milestone: the very first time out of ba****ck pads and into a real saddle. A moment filled with quiet strength, courage, and pride, and one we’ll never forget. 💙🐴

I saw a child who couldn't walk,
sit on a horse, laugh and talk.
I saw a child born into strife,
Take up and hold the reins of life.

Our summer sessions are in full swing, and the kids are diving deep into all things horse care! 🐴📚 From learning the basics of equine anatomy to understanding how to groom, feed, and care for these amazing animals, they’re gaining hands-on knowledge that builds responsibility and respect for our four-legged partners. ❤️

On our "Inside Out Day", we took a creative approach to teaching equine anatomy painting the bones and vital organs directly onto one of our horses. 🎨 Not only did the kids get to see where these structures are located, but they also learned about how the bones move, what the organs do, and why each part is so important to a horse's health and well-being. It’s been an amazing way to connect science with hands-on learning! We ended the day with a sudsy bath for our painted pony.

We’re so proud of how curious and engaged our young learners have been. 💡

P.S. We still have a few spots open for our July–August session for ages 13–18. If you know a teen who might love this kind of experience, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We would love to send you more info.
