We are committed to reducing and eventually ending the need to euthanize healthy adoptable animals through a multi faceted approach of spay and neuter services, education and outreach, as well as adoption and enforcement of healthy shelter animals.

Cosmo is feeling LUCKY as he anticipates finding his permanent residence today, with his optimism palpable right down to his toes. As the shelter's leader, he enjoys utilizing his spare time as a canine companion and firefighter partner, as evident in his command of the large vehicle. Cosmo holds his firefighter colleagues in high regard and aspires to make this his full-time occupation. Having resided at the Lake City Humane Society for 152 days, Cosmo is in need of a permanent home and a lifelong companion. Today, a special adoption promotion is being offered, with the best home being selected for a nominal fee of $5.00.

Things were heating up today at Lake City Humane Society! Lake City Firefighters stopped by to cuddle puppies and show affection to some other very special canines. Cosmo enjoyed his time in the driver's seat. Snow, Tex, Xena, and Minnie loved the extra attention. A huge thank you to Assistant Chief R. Tompkins, Lt. Bobby Oliver, Elliott Reddish, AJ Parnell, Angel Ovalle, and Christina Munro for your dedication, support, and service to Lake City Humane Society and our community. We can't wait until your next visit. 🚒

These two girls are Dorothy and Blanche. They were rescued in late 2023 and nursed back to health by an employee... becoming extremely bonded along the way. They were finally adopted TOGETHER in May of 2024, and their new dad sends her updates at least once a month. He's turned his garage into a climate controlled living room for them to hang out in while he's at work and they are extremely spoiled and loved girls ❤️ Sometimes it takes a while to find the right home for special cases, but we always know the right one is out there ...and these updates are why we never give up! We're so thankful for Dorothy and Blanche's new dad for loving them as much as we do ❤️ Congratulations girls ❤️

Another sweet update! Twister (now Buddy) is settling in nicely with his new family. Living the good life and getting all the loves! We're so thankful for our adopters and these amazing updates that bring so much happiness to all of our staff and supporters 💓

REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD!!!

Chopper was so excited to see his family that he would not sit still 😁 This unbelievably sweet boy is now chipped but hes usually not too far from his little human girl ☺️ Their matching smiles say it all! We're so happy Chopper is back home and it was a pleasure to have him visit ❤️

Quick little update on Teddy. His broken heart is healing and his new family is giving him all the love he can handle! Teddy is doing great in his new home and loves going for golf cart rides with his new fur siblings. His new mom says that he is famous now lol everywhere they go, people recognize him from our post and take selfies with him 😁 Teddy is on a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise, but above all, he's loved...and that is all we wanted for him ❤️ We love you Teddy and are so so happy for you!

Another Dump and Run!

Here we are at the beginning of another week, with another instance of a dump and run at our gate, occurring around 8:16pm. A crate was left directly under the 'at capacity' sign posted on the gate. The individual responsible was observed driving a dark pickup truck and wearing a hoodie. The crate contains a a mama accompanied by very young babies. At present, we are unable to determine the exact number of babies or their condition, as the mother is displaying fearful and protective behavior. An update will be provided tomorrow. E. UPDATE: Following our initial report, the mother and her seven babies are now comfortably situated in a kennel run, complete with blankets and receiving care from a safe distance. The mother remains fearful and unapproachable, while the babies are sleeping. We extend our gratitude to those who support our daily efforts. 💕 E.
