If you guessed comedones you are correct!

Comedones are those small black bumps you can see in the photo and are more commonly known as blackheads. Comedones are a build up of debris and oil in a dogs hair follicles. Although comedones appear to be a cosmetic issue they can indicate underlying systemic disease such as hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing disease), pyoderma (skin infection) or a sign of underlying allergies.
