Nina & her Guardians Continue Working on her Impulse Control & Staying Calm. Nina's Frustration can QUICKLY Lead to Serious Demand Barking at her Guardians!
The More Consistent the Guardians are with Practicing Lessons, the More Well-Mannered Nina Becomes! These Training Lessons are Not Only Building a Solid Foundation for Good Behavior but are also Strengthening the Bond between Nina & her Guardians.
I can see the Change in Nina's Puppy Behaviors as she & her Guardians Make Amazing Progress! We Celebrate the Small Wins & Adjust Cues that Nina Might Find Challenging.
Keep up the GREAT Work!

Millie IS Making Progress! It May Feel Like One Step Forward & Two Steps Back at Times, but She IS Becoming More Comfortable & Her Fear IS Starting to Fade. Celebrate those Little Victories!
Guardians ALWAYS Have a Training Goal They WANT to Achieve with Their Dog. But Sometimes, YOU Can't Work with the Dog YOU WANT Them to Be...YET. Instead YOU Need to Work with the Dog in Front of YOU—The Dog They ARE Right Now.
This IS YOUR Dog.
That Means YOU May Need to MEET THEM Where THEY Are—Not Where YOU THINK They Should Be!
Take a Moment to SLOW Down & Set Realistic Expectations. Remember...Dogs Who Have Faced Trauma Need TIME to Heal.

Graduation Congratulations to Yardley & her Guardians!
Yardley's Guardians would like her to become a Therapy Dog & they also know that she has some Maturing to do. There ISN'T a Time Limit for Becoming a Therapy Dog & Continued Practice of Foundational Cues is a Great Way to help Yardley be a More Well-Rounded Dog!
Yardley & her Guardians have Learned so Much DURING their Lessons & WILL Continue to Socialize her! Every Time Yardley is Out with her Guardians is Another Opportunity to Expose & Prepare her for the CGC
Evaluation.
The American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluation is a Way of Showing that YOUR Dog has Met the MINIMUM Standard for a Dog that IS Well Behaved in a Public Setting! The CGC is Usually a Prerequisite for MANY Therapy Dog Certifications, as well as a Great Introduction to More ADVANCED Dog Sports & Activities! After YOU Complete the CGC Training, YOU will have a Dog who Responds Reliably to Core Cues such as Sit & Down! YOUR Dog CAN Maintain GOOD Control on a Leash & Be Calm in a Variety of Situations! YOUR Dedication to YOUR Dog's Continued Training Sets the Stage for Even GREATER Successes in the Future!

Theo & his Guardian are Changing Lanes this Lesson... LESS Service Dog Tasking & Back to Foundational Cues! Training is about Flexibility & Working on the Immediate Needs of Theo & his Guardian. The Guardians Goal DOESN'T Change, but the Lesson Plan Will.
Theo had an EXTREMELY Busy week & a Couple of Days with a sitter...Routines & Schedules were off. The Guardian Returned Home to a Very Clingy Theo. But Both got Back on Track...Theo & his Guardian had a Great Lesson!
Life Happens!
Things Come Up & Adjustments Are Made!
A Slight Step Backward ISN'T Permanent!
Training ISN'T Linear...There WILL be Regression & Progress!
Celebrate the Little Wins & Breathe Through the Losses!
It's OKAY!

Sarge & his Guardians were on a SHORT Training Break! I wasn't sure how Scouts Return Lesson would go...it was a VERY Pleasant Surprise!
Limited Barking (only 3 times) & Sightly Backward with Trusting me nearby. His Guardian was Great & Learned how to Redirect Sarge's Nervous Behaviors around me!
By the Next Visit...SARGE Should be on Track again!

I want to Welcome Nina & her Guardians to the B&RDT Family👋👋
Nina has ALL the Typical Puppy Behaviors that her Guardians want to Work on... Jumping, Mouthing & Selective Hearing! Nina's Guardians have had Previous Dogs, but it's been Awhile Since they've had a Puppy in their Home!
Nina's Guardians want to Learn the Best way to Correct Inappropriate Behaviors & Teach Solid Foundational Cues. If Nina's Lessons are Rushed too Quickly or Glossed Over, Any FUTURE Cues may Not be Maintained or Understood! Nina's Guardians are Excited to Start her Training Journey...they're Happy that she's so Eager to Learn (Maybe Just a Bit Too Much) & Focused!
YOU CAN Learn HOW to Channel YOUR Dog's Enthusiasm into Positive Behaviors! By Introducing Fun & Engaging Activities...YOU'LL Begin to Replace Jumping with Sitting, Mouthing with Appropriate Chewing & Help YOUR Dog Build their Attention Span! This Foundational Work will Strengthen the Bond Between YOU & YOUR Dog! It Sets BOTH of YOU Up for Long-Term Success!

Harleigh & her Guardians have Graduated👏👏
Harleigh's Confidence Continues to Grow Steadily after an Extremely Stressful Summer. She was Attacked by another Dog, Nearby Construction with a Pneumatic nail gun, Multiple Local Tornados & Several Area Fireworks Caused a Setback from the Progress her Guardians had made! Now, Focusing on a Fun Game Will Help Harleigh Move Forward with her Daily Walks.
Harleigh was Exposed to A LOT of Threats to her Safety & she just Wasn't Comfortable Leaving the Security of Her home. Her Guardians were Only Concerned about the Fireworks & DEFINITELY Didn't Expect those Additional Stressors! Today, they're hoping Harleigh will be Confident enough to Enjoy Walks by the Lakefront again THIS Summer🤞
Facing SEVERAL Stressors in a Very Short Timeframe CAN Make Progress FEEL like a Constant Uphill Battle...ESPECIALLY as each New Trigger can Reinforce the Behaviors YOU'RE TRYING to Redirect! YOUR DOG often Needs Time to FULLY Process EACH INDIVIDUAL Experience — but when Life Throws One Challenge After Another — Their Ability to RECOVER CAN Become Strained! This can Mean YOU'LL see Behaviors Flare Up Even when YOU THOUGHT You'd made Progress! This Leaves YOU Feeling as if YOU'RE CONSTANTLY Going Back to Square One. But with Consistent Support, PATIENCE & Positive Guidance Your Dog Can Start to Find their Balance Again...ONE Small Victory at a Time!

Tito is Working on his Impulse Control & his Guardian is Working on Reward Timing...
Tito is Learning that Becoming Calm Pays HUGE Dividends! His Guardian DOESN'T Want Tito to Follow in Edmond's Reactive Footsteps & is Happy with Tito's Response when People or Other Dogs are Nearby! We're Working on an "Acknowledge & Reward" Scenario Game that he REALLY Enjoys.
His Guardian is Learning the Importance of Reward TIMING — how Even a Few nano-seconds' Delay Can Mean Tito Starts to Engage in Other Undesired Activities! With Continued Practice, the Timing WILL Improve & Tito WILL Begin to Focus on his Guardians More in Anticipation of his Reward!
Training YOUR Dog Isn't about Trying to FORCE a Behavior to Happen but Guiding THROUGH a Process toward a Desired Outcome! The More Fun YOU have During YOUR Training Journey the More YOUR Dog WILL Engage With YOU & NOT the Environment! Making Lessons Fun CAN Lead to More Eager Participation & More Frequent Training Sessions!
Sounds Like a WIN/WIN To Me!

Louie & his Guardian are Fine Tuning Excitement at the Door & Greeting Guests...
Teaching Louie Door Manners starts with Creating Some Calming Cues BEFORE he even Approaches the Door. Since the Doorbell or a Knock Triggers Louie's Excitement his Guardian has Started by Working on Desensitizing him to These Sounds. By Teaching Louie to Sit Calmly, he WILL Learn that the Doorbell ISN’T his Invitation to Race Toward the Door! This Process takes A LOT of Practice...ESPECIALLY when Louie’s Enthusiasm & Natural Curiosity make it SO Difficult for him to Hold Still.
Louie’s Guardian is also Teaching him to WAIT Politely as Guests Enter. This Part can be VERY Challenging because Louie Just wants to RUN up for an Instant "Hello" & a Closer Sniff. By Guiding Louie to Approach the Guest in a More Calm Fashion...his Guardian is Showing him HOW to Greet in a way that’s Comfortable for BOTH Louie & their Guest!
While it May SOUND Simple — Teaching YOUR DOG Door Manners takes a Clear Plan, Consistency & Patience! Often, the Excitement of YOUR Guests Arriving CAN Create a Burst of Energy that’s Difficult for YOUR Dog to Contain! Greeting Someone at YOUR Door ISN’T Just a “Hello” for YOUR Dog...it’s a Whole Sensory Experience of NEW Body Language Cues, Smells & Voices that Can Overwhelm Even the Most Well-Mannered Dog!
