🐾 You want your pup moving and bending with you, watching your feet, and keeping to the pace of your walk.
🦴 Here we practice getting the pup to pick his feet up, move right and left, as well as turn all while keeping pace. A dog that is moving with you is watching your feet and paying attention to your body movements instead of getting distracted and reactive to things around him. 🐶

This is our new friend Poppy 🙂🐕
She is a 96 lb great Pyrenees mix, she has one eye and is partially disabled in her hips. She is the BIGGEST love! Unfortunately, she is unable to get in and out of the groomer tubs so today we came to her home, gave her a shave, bathed her, clipped her nails, and cleaned her ears 🙂 she was so happy afterwards!
If you have a dog that does not do good at the groomers and are struggling to get your him/her bathed , we would love to help!

Sign up today (or any time before December 31st) for the VIP Program and you will be able to choose any class of 2024 you would like to attend. If you are unsure of what your future plans look like and have no idea when you will be able to fit in six weeks of training into your schedule, that is okay! Each month a new schedule will be updated. Once you see a class that works for you, then you will be able to hop into that class at anytime, even the night before a class starts! All you would have to do is let us know you are part of the VIP Program. 🎄

Moving into your dog and having them move back with just your body pressure is a great technique to keep your dog under control. This takes practice and time to get just right, but your pup will realize that you are going to gain his/her attention through spacial pressure if they do not listen to your voice, nor pay attention to your body movements.
In this moment Teddy charged left as mary went right. This means that Teddy is no longer paying attention. Mary used her body to push Teddy back into his place, which is by her side, and then continued moving forward. This lets Teddy know that even if he moves away from where he is supposed to be he will be put back in his spot and will never gain ground unless it is Mary's idea. Eventually, Teddy realizes that she controls all movements and if he fights, he will lose ground. Therefore, he gives to Mary's lead because it is the fastest way to get what he wants, which is forward movement.

🐾 Two week Board and train
Our two-week board and train program is designed for puppies or dogs with no training or obedience as well as dogs with basic obedience wanting to further their obedience. This program is designed to also help with behavior modifications and introduction to off leash.
Two private lessons are included with this package for handler and dog after completion.
🐾 How to Prepare
You will need to bring 2 weeks of food. Up to date vaccination records are required.
🐾 What We Do
During the two weeks we work through a custom training plan based on your dogs needs and the goals you would like them to meet. Loose leash walking , socialization, boundaries, basic commands, environmental training, kennel training, and shaping new behaviors such as sit, lay down, stay, place and recall are included in the program. We will also introduce off leash reliability as well as an introduction to agility training. Agility training introduction will consist of jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and feet control. The coarse will be customized to what goals you want your pup to accomplish in his/her training. This course can also be for mildly reactive dogs that need behavior modifications or dogs that want to get started in trick training.

I wanted to take the time to let everyone know about the Mohave County Sheriff’s K9 Foundation . This wonderful non-profit foundation focuses on raising money for K9's and their handlers like Grimm and Officer McCleary! (pictured below)
These teams of two work hard every day to keep our County safe! The Donations made to the foundation go to gear the dogs need to stay safe while handling dangerous suspects, vigorous training for Officers and their dogs, as well as any tools needed for such high level training.

Leash walking is not about the leash at all! It is more about telling your dog where you want his feet and teaching them to watch your feet. A dog out in front is not controlling its impulse to move its body forward without you. This tells you that your dog is not paying attention to you, or where your feet are moving. When a dog is at your side you have more control. From here you are able to step into their space as soon as they are moving too fast and teach them to slow down and match your pace.
