We're wishing on a shooting star for some supplies! ✨

As we mentioned in our post yesterday, we are in need of some things as the cold weather settles down into our area. Urgent needs are paper towels and spray bottles but the rest are supplies are something we are okay with waiting on!

Some cold weather is heading our way to end off this week, meaning we'll be needing an extra hand as we prep for it! 🥶

❄ Donate dry/wet food!
❄ As always, we will need extra supplies such as paper towels, trash bags, and bleach!
❄ Taking care of a feral colony? Make sure to use insulated bowls of water and use straw NOT hay to stuff their houses!
❄ Found a stray? Contact your local non-emergency police department line and ask for an animal control officer!

Ready to celebrate Mardi Gras with Manny? 🎉

This goofy guy FINALLY made it out of our ringworm isolation area after spending the last 3 months in there with his friend, who just got adopted today! Wohoo!

Manny has always been a very rambunctious kitty, never letting a toy go untouched in his cage. He is also very food motivated and will snack on treats during his free time. 🐾

Are you willing to swipe right for Dijon Mustard?! 🩷

This gorgeous 1 year old girl came into our care back in August, fighting against ringworm and whatever else the universe had decided to drop on her. Luckily, she has healed wonderfully and is now the sweetest girl!

Her personality can be timid at first but once she deems that she can trust you, she just loves to be silly, head bumping your hand and rolling around on her back. She also seems to get along with other cats! 😻

While we await the arrival of kitten season, we are in the process of spending time with our friends who need a little extra help seeing how people work.

If you or your friends have deemed yourselves as the cat whisperer, we would love to have you join our mission in making our shy kitties more comfortable with human interaction in order to offer them the best shot at getting a furever home! 💝

SUPER SPECIAL SPOTLIGHT! Ojai and Altadena are a 5 month old brother and sister pair who we have been eagerly waiting to place in a home! These gorgeous babies have been in our care since they were about 4 weeks old, and have struggled to recover from ringworm due to their long hair. While ringworm is a fungal skin infection that can spread between animals and people, scientific studies show us that it heals much more quickly in a low-stress home environment. If you are interested in meeting these gorgeous babies and taking them home, we are happy to send their treatments home with them. They are otherwise spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccinations!

With inquiries about Ojai and Altadena, please call 979-529-9758 and press the number one on the call tree. They are only available to meet by request, as they are currently housed in our ringworm isolation unit.

Check out our adoptable FIV champions, Rincon and Tomeka 💪! While we're at it, here's five facts about FIV that you may not have known! 1️⃣ FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. As expected by the name, it can weaken a cat's immune system and make them more vulnerable to illness. 2️⃣ FIV can only be spread from one cat to another through deep bites and occasionally through mating. Once cats are spayed and neutered, the risk of substantial bites through fighting is reduced to nearly zero! 3️⃣ While it is a lifelong virus, FIV positive cats can live long and healthy lives. Most cats with FIV do not need any more intensive veterinarian care than their yearly exam. 🏥 4️⃣ FIV positive cats can live with FIV negative cats with very low risk of transmission, especially if everyone is spayed or neutered! 5️⃣ A cat with FIV is just a great a companion as a cat without FIV! Maybe you should come snuggle Rincon and find out for yourself 💕

EDIT: ADOPTED SPOTLIGHT: Babushka is a sweet two year old girl. She's ANYTHING but an old lady, which is the meaning of her name. She is sweet and playful, and absolutely gorgeous. She loves to be pet and held, and is curious about other cats and dogs. She came in with kittens that were of adoption age, and she did a wonderful job of raising them to be as friendly as she is! The Mad Cattery is an extension of the SPCA of Brazoria County, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to leading Brazoria County to a time when there are no more homeless pets in our community. Founded in 1974, the SPCA-BC has operated the Southern Brazoria County Animal Shelter since 2003. The shelter is an open admission facility serving the cities of Freeport, Lake Jackson, and Clute and proudly operates as a no-kill shelter.

The Mad Cattery is an adoption and event center that houses many of the shelter’s adoptable cats and kittens. Looking for your new best friend? Come spend time with some of the sweet kitties looking for loving furever homes in our new cabitat (cat habitat)! Just need a break from every day life? Stop by and say hi! The kitties would love to have someone to play with and give chin rubs. We even have goodie bags filled with treats that you can purchase to give to them! All cats and kittens have been vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped. Talk to our adoption counselors about who might be the best fit for you!

As we are no longer operating as a thrift store we have so much room to spare! We will be offering regular monthly activities to the community including cat yoga, game night, movie night, trivia night, planner brunch, paint and sip, various crafts and more! Need a space for your next meeting? The Mad Cattery is available to rent for birthday parties, showers, meetings, book clubs, bible studies and more! If you need a space, we’ve got it for you.

All proceeds go to helping the pets in our care. We also accept donations of cat litter, cat food, cleaning supplies such as soap, clorox, clorox wipes, windex, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. All donations will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
