It's the final day of Hanukkah, and all that Norm can dream of is a home to call his own. This sweet fluffy boy is around 4 months old and is a little timid when he first meets you. He enjoys the company of other cats, and playing with toys. Kittens like Norm are just $75 or two kittens for $100! We are open until 8:00 p.m. today, if you would like to come and meet him!

Goodbye 2024, HELLO 2025! 🎉

Thank you, Brazoria County for making our 2024 so special! Without your unwavering support, we would not have been able to continue our mission!

Moving into a new building was definitely the highlight of our year, and the welcoming that we had from our community was truly a sight to see, and the entire cattery staff is very thankful for all you amazing people continue to do. 💝

In order to let our staff ring in the new year with this amazing community, we will be closing at 3 pm today 12/31 & closed on New Year's Day 1/1!

So come find your new furry friend for the MEW year, we are here until 3! 😸

Karma IS a cat purring in my lap cause he loves me! 😍

If you're looking to bring some good luck and crazy energy into the new year, this is your guy! Karma is a four month old kitten who has rocked our world since he came into the shelter. He is a very vocal baby who loves to be loved, always wanting to be in someone's arms.

He would do well with a house that has other cats, children, and possibly dogs if given the proper introduction time! He also comes fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped for an adoption fee of $75! 💝

Thinking of adopting some-kitty who is practicing a peaceful mindset for 2025? Gemma is your gal!

Gemma is a gorgeous 5 year old girl who is a couch potato at heart. She came to us at the beginning of October and has been nothing but a delight to us since!

She was in a home with other cats, dogs, and small children! She would prefer a slow introduction with any new friends but is known to come along after!

Gemma's adoption fee is only $45 which includes her being spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated!

If you would like to meet her, she is at 444 Plantation Drive in Lake Jackson! We are here until 3 PM!

The holidays aren't over yet! For Hannukah, Igor would love to find his forever family! Igor is a 4 month old kitten who is full of energy and will always keep you laughing. This boy loves cats, dogs, and children. He'd love to find an active and busy household where he can play!

All Gumbo wants for Christmas is his two front teeth....and a bottom lip!

Despite the odds being against his adorable face, Gumbo doesn't let his looks get him down! He is a super energetic cat who loves to play with feather toys, jingle balls, and pretty much anything else he can get his paws on. 🐾

Gumbo is cat friendly & kid friendly, and would most likely enjoy the company of a dog if given the proper introduction time! He is also fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered!

Glow-up alert! Lucky came to our shelter as a small kitten, and he has had quite an adventurous life ever since. This sweet man is back and better than ever, and still extraordinarily photogenic! Lucky is friendly with other cats, and loves to sit in your lap. We are hoping that Lucky will not have to spend the holidays in the shelter. He can head home from our Cattery at 444 Plantation Drive. We are open from 8am to 8pm today!

Check out our adoptable FIV champions, Rincon and Tomeka 💪! While we're at it, here's five facts about FIV that you may not have known! 1️⃣ FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. As expected by the name, it can weaken a cat's immune system and make them more vulnerable to illness. 2️⃣ FIV can only be spread from one cat to another through deep bites and occasionally through mating. Once cats are spayed and neutered, the risk of substantial bites through fighting is reduced to nearly zero! 3️⃣ While it is a lifelong virus, FIV positive cats can live long and healthy lives. Most cats with FIV do not need any more intensive veterinarian care than their yearly exam. 🏥 4️⃣ FIV positive cats can live with FIV negative cats with very low risk of transmission, especially if everyone is spayed or neutered! 5️⃣ A cat with FIV is just a great a companion as a cat without FIV! Maybe you should come snuggle Rincon and find out for yourself 💕

The Mad Cattery

The Mad Cattery is an extension of the SPCA of Brazoria County, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to leading Brazoria County to a time when there are no more homeless pets in our community. Founded in 1974, the SPCA-BC has operated the Southern Brazoria County Animal Shelter since 2003. The shelter is an open admission facility serving the cities of Freeport, Lake Jackson, and Clute and proudly operates as a no-kill shelter.

The Mad Cattery is an adoption and event center that houses many of the shelter’s adoptable cats and kittens. Looking for your new best friend? Come spend time with some of the sweet kitties looking for loving furever homes in our new cabitat (cat habitat)! Just need a break from every day life? Stop by and say hi! The kitties would love to have someone to play with and give chin rubs. We even have goodie bags filled with treats that you can purchase to give to them! All cats and kittens have been vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped. Talk to our adoption counselors about who might be the best fit for you!

As we are no longer operating as a thrift store we have so much room to spare! We will be offering regular monthly activities to the community including cat yoga, game night, movie night, trivia night, planner brunch, paint and sip, various crafts and more! Need a space for your next meeting? The Mad Cattery is available to rent for birthday parties, showers, meetings, book clubs, bible studies and more! If you need a space, we’ve got it for you.

All proceeds go to helping the pets in our care. We also accept donations of cat litter, cat food, cleaning supplies such as soap, clorox, clorox wipes, windex, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. All donations will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
