With temperatures on the rise make sure your pets are safe in the heat! The American Veterinary Medical Association recommends:
* Leaving your pets at home and out of the heat if possible
* Provide different temperature zones in your house for your pets comfort, like an air conditioned room or cool basement floor.
* Never leave your pet in the car, even if it is in the shade or the windows are cracked. Cars can overheat quickly to deadly temperatures.
* If it’s hot outside for you, it’s even hotter for your pet
* Take walks during the cooler parts of the day
* Avoid hot surfaces, such as asphalt, that can burn your dogs paws
* Make sure they have access to plenty of water!
* Recognize the signs of heat stress

The approach of the warm season brings a spike both in temperatures and in cases of heatstroke in dogs.

Today is National check the chip day! If your pet is microchipped and you want it checked to make sure it’s still scanning we can always do that while they’re here for an appointment or you can call and we can set up a time for you to bring them by! If you are interested in getting your pet microchipped you can call and schedule an appointment or we can add it on to an existing appointment!

Microchips greatly increase the chances that lost pets will be reunited with their families...but a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate.

The Wisconsin Department of Health has great information regarding blue green algae blooms that can cause great harm to you and your dog! It thrives in lakes, ponds and slow moving streams. In Wisconsin the blooms usually occur from mid June to late September, but this year they’ve been documented even sooner! Pay attention to warning signs in local swimming holes and be aware of what to watch for to keep yourself and your dogs safe!

What are blue-green algae? Many species of algae are found in Wisconsin lakes and rivers. Algae act like other plants and convert sunlight into energy, forming the base of a lake's food chain. Algae are eaten by zooplankton, which are in turn eaten by small fish, then larger fish, and eventually the....

Spring is right around the corner and with the warmer weather it is now a good time to get out and about with your puppy for socialization! Socialization is critical for pets to develop good behavior, confidence, and adaptability.

It helps prevent fear and anxiety-related issues and promotes overall well-adjusted behavior.

We are excited to let everyone know that one of our very own Vet Techs, Monica gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this past Tuesday. Her name is Lainey Rae weighing 7lb 2oz. Both mom and baby are happy and healthy and we can’t wait until Lainey becomes an official TVC employee (even if we may have to wait a couple years) 😁
