The Australian Cattle Dog is a strong compact, symmetrically built working dog, with the ability and willingness to carry out his allotted task however arduous.

Are you interested in this breed? The OFA, working with the Australian Cattle Dog Club of America, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock:
- Hip Dysplasia (OFA or PennHIP)
- Elbow Dysplasia
- ACVO Eye Exam (24m age minimum)
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy prcd (DNA Test)
- Congenital Deafness (BAER)
- Primary Lens Luxation (DNA Test)
Optional but recommended:
- Patellar Luxation
- Cardiac Exam (Basic, Advanced, or Standard Congenital Cardiac Exam)
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy RCD4
- PennHip

Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers. For potential puppy buyers, CHIC certification is a good indicator the breeder responsibly factors good health into their selection criteria.

For more information about the Australian Cattle Dog, please visit the parent club website: https://www.acdca.org/

Super afternoon/ evening at the Brigands Hideout NASDA trial. All the kids were great! Max qualified in all three UL II runs, won a Best of Breed and then went on to get two fast Q's in our first challenge games ( Silence - can't talk to the dog and Distance- handler can't enter the search area) . Katniss with John handling her for their first trial together, was blistering fast in her three UL II runs, earning all three Q's, a Best of Breed and High in Trial . Katniss had a little trouble with the Silence CG, but were perfect in Distance. Princess Wombat competed in her first UL I trials and she, got all 3 Q's with no deductions! What a smart girl, she loves this job.

Safe to say it was a full weekend in many ways in Graham, Washington. Friday our dogs took part in a NASDA trial, Max getting multiple qualifying runs and two best of breed, Katniss finished her level two titles in UL II and LI II. Friday and Saturday, and Sunday our club, Cascade Australian Cattle Dog Club ran a massively successful Farm Dog Certification granting almost 100 dogs brand new FDC titles, congratulations everyone. Thank you to 4 of the hardest working friends and club members, Callie Kiehl, Melissa Thompson, Cindy Gordon, Michelle Rogers & Shiner! You made the days so much fun ❤️ In the middle of all that we managed to add in some conformation classes, with Maximus going BOS ( best of Opposite S*x) and Katniss Select on Saturday. Thank you judge Linn Klingel Brown for the honors.
Sunday Maximus was Best of Winners, thank you judge Leslie E Hiltz for finding our special boy. So proud of thing young dog
If they did do enough, our kids tried their hand at fast Cat, getting great scores, and they had fun... Safe to say we are all exhausted, almost home!
