Project Pooch

Project Pooch Project POOCH provides life-changing opportunities for adjudicated youth and shelter dogs. Project POOCH, Inc.

Project POOCH has successfully paired hundreds of youth incarcerated at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, Oregon, with homeless shelter dogs since 1993. Youths (guided by professionals) learn to train the dogs, groom them, and find them new adoptive forever homes. The dogs leave the program ready to be great pets, while their trainers re-enter the community with new job and persona

So many of you were invested in our dear Klondike during his extended time at POOCH. We hope you enjoy this 6-month update from his forever family!

"We adopted Klondike 6 months ago (as of this past Saturday). We know you've seen him several times since then, but here's an update on his life with his forever family.

Klondike's favorite things include: the dog park (especially playing with his best friends, picture included), snuggling with us and on top of us, flirt pole time (nothing has changed there!), taking out every single dog toy from the bin, and his toy octopus "Stevie."

Klondike's least favorite things include: the vacuum, and leaving the dog park.

Klondike's new experiences lately: playing with his cat sister Luna, attending a softball game, and showing off his door manners. We are planning his first camping trip in the coming weeks!

We have also included his breed DNA test results! After several dog park parents suggested Klondike might have some Alaskan Malamute mixed in with his Husky DNA, curiosity got to us and we sent in a test. The results are attached, in case you are interested.

We are immensely grateful for Project POOCH for helping us find and bring home our goofy guy, or as we often call him 'Mr. Man'

With gratitude,
Chelsea, Sammi, Sari🐾, Luna🐾, Pearl🐾, and Klondike🐾

Look who is back for a visit! Ivy (formerly Vivienne) is boarding with us for a week. One of the things we love about our boarding program is that our youth get to see the dogs that they trained, cared for, and came to love after they have been adopted into their forever homes. They get to see how they have changed once they are in a loving home. Everyone was so excited to see Ivy again—and she was excited to see us!—a true win-win situation.

Miss Jackie and James Bond have become quite the pair over the last few weeks. They enjoy playing, snoozing, and a good game of tug. James is 11 lbs, and Jackie is almost 70, but they don't let the size difference interfere with their fun! Both are available for adoption at pooch.org/adoptable-dogs

Meet Max. Max is an older German Shepherd Dog who is in search of a new home. At POOCH, we know and love Max. He has come to us for daycare a number of times. He's a smart, lovable guy. One of the coolest things he does is a double high five. He throws his whole body into it, and it is so fun. He walks well on a leash, loves people, and just wants to be with you. Let's help Max find a loving home to live out his golden years.

Are you ready for your new best friend? You are in luck, because we currently have FIVE pups who are ready for their forever home! We've got small, big, vocal, snuggly, and fun.

Marco and Polo are little guys learning to live in this big world. It's fun to see brothers with such distinct personalities! These two are true mutts, as they are a mix of 13 different breeds!

Miss Jacqueline has come so far since she has been at POOCH. When she first arrived, she had bald patches, was underweight, and was fighting an infection. Now her skin is glossy, her eyes are bright, and she might even be a little bit thick! :)

Malik—what is there to say about this guy? He's snuggly, cuddly, sweet, fun, adventurous, and likes to carry a stuffie around. What are you waiting for?

And James. James Bond. I'm not sure he likes a martini, but he certainly does love snuggles!

Meet all of our adoptable dogs at pooch.org/adoptable-dogs and apply today!

The dynamic duo of James and Jackie! Although quite different in size and temperament, they enjoy each other's company, and occasionally conspire to engage in some shenanigans together. We adore both of these puppers and hope they will find their forever home soon! Learn more about them at pooch.org/adoptable-dogs
