So as a lot of you know Dennis and I had the incredible honor of being invited up to Wisconsin to spend 4 amazing days with the Fromm/Neiman Family learning first hand why Fromm Family Foods really and truly is the best! Wow wow wow, it’s honestly hard to find words to explain what a wonderful, educational and just plain fun experience we had! We already loved Fromm and promoted Fromm, fed our own animals Fromm and knew the basic history but now we’ve learned SO much more and can’t wait to share with all of you what we learned.

This is going to be a long post but I promise it’ll be worth it but if you really don’t feel like reading it all no worries just pop into Puppers & Hairballs and I’ll be more than happy to talk your ear off about all things Fromm!

The most important thing to touch on first is the quality of the pet food they produce. Fromm is one of the only known dog food companies that still receives and processes whole produce. The same trucks that go to the grocery store to deliver broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, etc.. also go to the Fromm facility. I know this because, I SAW it, I got to hold and carry the fresh produce boxes. I got to put the yams into the batch of Chicken a la Veg they were making! Plus many of the vegetables actually come from their own family farm. They use real Wisconsin award winning cheese in the food. It’s not what people won’t buy, this was fresh, quality, whole foods. The same is true for their meat. Our pups are NOT getting the stuff people won’t eat. They are getting the real deal. They actually receive the meat and process it in their own facility, again right in front of our eyes, we saw it all!

The next most important fact is their extrusion process. They have cornered the market on extruding at a lower temperature than the majority of other brands. By doing this they’re able to keep far more nutrient in their kibble. Since they’re cooking it at lower temperatures they have to cook it longer which slows their process down but they don’t care. They will NEVER compromise on the quality of their food! The facility is cleaner than most human food facilities and they have even been complimented by the inspectors. We felt so safe and satisfied with the ingredients and the facility that we even ATE some of the kibble right out of the extruder (could have use a little salt haha).

Every single batch of dog food, cat food, or treats is tested in their own in-house laboratory for nutrition and safety AND is also sent to a 3rd party testing facility for double checks. Not a single bag of the product leaves their facility without passing both tests. They also keep samples of each batch for the entirety of its shelf life and they will personally double check and continue to do tests on those samples if any customer calls in and has an issue; where else can you get that level of customer service?!

The company was established in 1904 and to this day is Family owned and operated by the same 5th generation family. They are not beholden to shareholders or parent companies just trying to make the most profit that they can. They are a family run business just like we are and over the years they’ve gone through the same types of business struggles we have. We got to spend time with the family and their kids and I will always choose to support a small family run business over a gigantic corporation any day!

There is so much more to share and we’ll do so little by little through our posts. I’ll share lots of pictures from our trip and add more of the fun history we learned but the main takeaway is Fromm is a brand you can trust for your fur babies, we certainly do!

We finally got Jolene out on the paddle board today and thank goodness for her Bay Dog life vest because our sweet girl is clumsy as can be and having that handle to pull her back up each time was perfect!! We’ve got them in all sizes so bring your pups by and try them on because summer is here and that means it’s lake time! 🐾

“Mooooom why are we at work on a Sunday, the stores not even open?!?!” Gus Gus doesn’t quite understand what it takes to be a business owner but we’ve got something really exciting in the works that’s going to force him to actually work for a change so stay tuned for that!! Parking is available in front of the plaza, and the main entrance by The Blueberry Patch is the only entrance however for grooming appointments feel free to drop off and pick up around back! 🐾
