🍊 🐍 ADOPT VADER🐍🍊
Vader is a milk snake that was found traveling throughout an apartment complex. Nobody was looking for him, and nobody claimed him. Now, he’s with us and soon, with you! Vader, as milk snakes usually are, is very quick, sassy, and an escape artist. He would do best in a home with snake experience.
He will be on quarantine hold with us for the next handful of days. We do not know his age.

Today we visited the NJ satellite location of . They kindly offered us some supplies for Kenya, and provided the opportunity to learn about some of their turtles. The turtles we met today were at this location because they fell into a few categories. The most saddening, being trafficked and endangered. Some, smuggled for monetary gain, and confiscated before hitting their destination. Others, endangered from land destruction and poaching.
All in all, these turtles (amongst hundreds of others) are in this position from human actions. It was an honor to meet them, and a reminder that we all have to keep fighting for animals. 💚

Meet Vader… Short for “invader”.. Vader is a milk snake that was found traveling throughout an apartment complex. Nobody was looking for him, and nobody claimed him. The complex called animal control, and animal control called us. Even after his stray hold, nobody has claimed him. Now, he’s with us and soon, with you! Vader, as milk snakes usually are, is very quick, sassy, and an escape artist. He would do best in a home with snake experience.

Kenya’s bloodwork came back…and it’s not the update that anyone was expecting.
Would you believe us if we told you that her bloodwork’s came back PERFECT? Not only was her physical exam perfect (aside from bleeding from her eyes and ears), but her panel came back clean. Now, on paper, Kenya seems like the epitome of a healthy turtle. But in person, she bleeds from her eyes, ears, skin, and shell. She’s not uncomfortable, not in pain, and is very very alert and active. While it’s amazing that her labs came back perfect, we still don’t have any answers. Our phenomenal exotic specialists have been discussing and studying Kenya’s case for over a week. From here, we continue with testing and performing in-house trial and error with her daily life. Kenya only bleeds when introduced to water. West African Mud Turtles are semi-aquatic, so we’ve had her dry docked, with daily wet docks to prevent organ atrophy. Moving forward, she’s entirely wet docked and we have to document and monitor the changes in her water, caused by her anomaly of a body. We must stay in daily contact with her specialist team during this.
We’ve ruled out a bleeding disorder, and anything that could be shown in blood. Now, we keep testing and documenting. This weekend, we’re taking a trip to a satellite location of The Turtle Conservancy, to discuss Kenya.
🙏 We are so thankful for the support of our community during this mystery case.

🐹 S’mores is adopted!! S’mores had an unfair start in life. He was from a breeding mill, and packed in a retail setting with too many guinea pigs. Being in a small space with too many other animals, can cause issues like aggression. S’mores became aggressive, and started attacking other guinea pigs. Instead of stopping it, passerbys in the store took out their phones and recorded him fighting with the other pigs. This led to him being unwanted by the retailer, and he found his way into our hands. We’ve had S’mores over a month, close to two months. Not once has he been aggressive to humans, or other passing animals. He was dealt an unfair hand, and was punished for it. We adopted him out as an only guinea pig, to play it safe. We always want to be safe. A kind young lady heard about him on our social media, and came by to meet him a few weeks ago.
🐾Last night, he went home with her 💚 We’re so happy for both of them, and so appreciative of our community.

Our final Sebastian update 💚
Sebastian passed away late last night / early this morning. We worked so hard on him. He fought so hard to stay alive. We are so proud of how much he was able to work with, before his passing. We are so sad to share this news, but happy that he is no longer suffering.
Time and time again, we receive leopard geckos in harsh states. Education regarding animal welfare needs to be more accessible to the public. Retailers need to stop churning these animals out w***y nilly for a buck. People need to stop purchasing them without understanding proper care and dedication.
We need less of this to happen. This isn’t pinpointed towards any one case, as we see this scenario constantly. These animals need a break.

🐢$5 Friday for Kenya that gives back to YOU!🐢
Kenya is a West African Mud turtle, that came to us on Wednesday. She was bleeding from her ears, eyes, skin, and shell. Since then, we’ve been able to stop the bleeding and stabilize her. She’ll be seeing our specialist on Monday, November 3rd, to figure out what’s been causing this.
🐢 As a thank you for your help, we’ll be sending out beautiful 4x6 prints of a Sulcata Tortoise, made by a small artist in Poland!
➡️ TO DONATE & GET YOUR PRINT:
• Include your address in your payment note, or DM it to us with proof of donation. Any donations without an address, will be considered simply a kind donation 🩷
