🐢Kenya came out of her tank to remind you that she’s up adoption! Would you believe that we have zero applications on her so far?!
💋 She’d love to have a forever home to spend Valentine’s Day with (that’s actually the soonest she can go home!)

The three white tree frogs are ADOPTED! 🐸🎉
Crosby, Stills, and Nash, are three of the most epic little dudes, and we’re so happy to see them go to a great home 🥰
🤗 Have we ever told you guys how much we LOVE our adopters? Maybe it’s because we reach a specific audience, maybe it’s because we try to be as human as possible, who knows. But, the adopters that come our way, are the coolest people ever. We will always be so thankful to foster relationships with every single person that helps an animal through our rescue, as it takes a (really chill) village. 🩶

📚 Request a free children’s book! ⭐️ Rescued Stories is our humane education book program that connects children with age-appropriate animal stories in a way that’s intentional, engaging, and waste-free.

Each book is pre-loved and rescued — just like the animals we help. Stories may be fiction or non-fiction and are selected at random based on the child’s age. Every book also comes with a small participation activity to help ensure the story is meaningful and truly used.

This program is open to families, guardians, and caregivers who want to involve children directly in compassionate learning.

💛 Some good news to share 💫
Tito has been eating on his own! We no longer have to syringe feed Tito, and he has been eating like a champ. He will be up for adoption soon ☺️
Tito the leopard gecko came to us a handful of months ago, after being starved and his needs went neglected. His last caretaker brought him to us before it was ‘just’ too late. His rehab has been very slow, but he’s made it, and we’re so happy to have him by our side 🥹

It’s been a little while since we’ve talked about our fundraiser with , and we wanted to share an update. 💚🐢

This collaboration was inspired by Kenya, our West African Mud Turtle who was surrendered to us after being thrown into a lake, taken out, kept until her shell started bleeding, and then brought to us. Her story is, unfortunately, not unique, and it reflects the reality that we’re seeing more and more of lately.

Because of the recent increase in surrendered animals coming into our care, The Artsy Cat has increased their donation to 50% of each sale, which makes an enormous difference for the animals depending on us.

These mosaic turtles are normally $20, but are currently on sale for $14 through the weekend, with $10 from each turtle still being donated directly to Wild Exotics. The artist is personally covering the discount so the animals don’t lose support, which we are incredibly grateful for.🥹

Funds raised go directly toward food, habitat supplies, and veterinary care. The animals cannot do this without community support, and this collaboration is a perfect example of what that looks like in action.

We want to share Bonnie’s internal finding with you all 💚
We’re doing this to teach, to educate, to prevent neglect like this from happening to other animals.
We want to be transparent about what we see ,and why it matters.
Bonnie’s ultrasound shows changes that don’t happen overnight. These are the kinds of internal conditions we hope to never see again, but that are critical to understand if we want to prevent them in.

Education saves animals. Accountability protects them.

Bonnie and Clyde deserved better, and we will keep teaching in their name. 💚

Thank you for loving Bonnie and Clyde, for the short amount we all knew them.
Thank you .nj for taking the time to share with us, so we can share with others.

Bonnie has now joined Clyde, high over the rainbow bridge. We are saddened, frustrated, and desperately wanting change for animals.

As previously updated, Bonnie spent the day with our exotics specialists, at Nautilus. What initially appeared to be abdominal swelling was not eggs (as we assumed), but the result of a body that experienced severe, long-term neglect.

An exam and ultrasound revealed:
• Large mass attached to the heart; potentially as large as or larger than the heart itself
• Free fluid detected within the pericardium
• Enlarged liver with congestion and dilated vasculature
• Free fluid present in the pulmonic cavity
• Kidneys markedly enlarged and bright with mineralization
• Overall severe organ dysfunction

Her body had been failing long before she reached help. This multi organ disfunction and failure is not natural. Bonnie and Clyde were never provided with proper care, and reached us far too late. We find solace in knowing that we were able to show them a final act of kindness.

The visit totaled $486.30. That is how much our rescue spent, to find out that Bonnie was neglected more than we originally thought. We truly thought she had a sliver of a chance. We tried, we so tried. Her internal damage was irreparable.

We made the compassionate decision to donate Bonnie’s body to be autopsied (necropsied), as some of the veterinarians had never seen such severe internal damage, and knew that they could learn to prevent suffering in more animals, by studying her ailments.

This is the reality of rescue. Quiet neglect is still deadly. Please, research. Google is free. Compassion is free. Let’s prevent more stories like this, by learning.

Bonnie is being held with our exotic specialist for the day. With the ailments she has, there could be a number of concerns. Heart, liver, masses, eggs. The best way to get a better answer is with an ultrasound. Nautilus was kind enough to fit Bonnie’s further testing into their busy surgery schedule. We’ll know more in a handful of hours 💚

We’ve had some mail go missing from our PO Box/get lost in all the holiday craziness through the postal system. BUT, these two cards made it to us 💙 We can’t even begin to express the gratitude and warmth that comes from these small acts of kindness, and written word.
If you’ve ever sent us a kindness, or another rescue such a kindness, please know that your time and acts are deeply valued. 💙
