What an amazing day today for Kate Dumity and I presenting two Intro to Barn Hunt Workshops in North Fort Myers.

We had a great day yesterday playing HURDLES AND LINE DRIVE.

If you’ve never played the game of Line Drive, this game is about having a plan! Easy as it may look, don’t let that fool you.

We will be playing Line Drive at all the upcoming Hurdle event

Along with all the fun ribbons and prizes, each month times will be recorded to present the fastest overall times accumlated over the 6 months to award in Small, Medium and Large Divisions, Champion of Champions and Reserve Champion of Champions at the end of the 6 month series in April.

Had a wonderful 6 days in Tallahassee/Havana with the Barn Hunt peeps of Tallahassee Dog Obedience Club at the lovely farm owed by Nancy Goyert. Such a treasure to have to opportunity to play Barn Hunt in a barn with the cows watching. (LOL)

Lorri Griffin and I presented two workshops on Thursday. Deb Salerno and I help teams with guided practice runs in the afternoon.

3 full days of judging, laughing and being fed by Mary! What more can a person ask for. It was amazing!

Thank you to such a wonderful group of people that are not only great club members but great friends.

Marie Blevins, Cathy Kennedy, Kelley Nolan Norred, Lynn Merrell, Morgan Danyi-Burton, Nancy Goyert, Bonnie Bailey, Mary Menard, Alice Lubbers/Jim and Drew and all the wonderful members that showed up to play and/or work!

I’m giving this a try as I think it can be fun. Worst case is I’m making a dog happy by sending them a toy - what can be better than that? No pressure to participate, I tagged a few dog people….If I didn’t tag you, you are still welcome to join!

I’m looking for dog owners interested in a holiday gift exchange. Doesn’t matter where you live in the U.S. - you are welcome to join! You have to buy one gift valued at least $10 and send it to your secret dog. (Hello Amazon!). Your dog will receive 6-36 gifts in return. And the great thing is you can keep them or donate them! A present will brighten their day (and the owners too). We could all use some happy mail.

There will be an enclosed 80 foot lane (made of snow fencing) with 5 jumps at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 ft. Jumps will be set at 4" for all dogs. At the end of the lane will be three tubes: one rat, one litter and one empty. Handler must call rat to stop the time. The maximum time will be 1 minute.

Are you Ready for the Competition Ring? This seminar is for teams that are wanting to build a strong relationship with their dog while working towards entering the Novice or Open Ring as a competitive team. From warm up routine to passing the threshold of the ring entrance, while maintaining a strong positive attitude to support your team are imperative to a successful team.

We will work to tighten those missed points in the Novice ring. Learn to understand the value of communication and being consistent. Know when to reward and when to correct for a positive outcome. Dogs learn from problem solving. Learn to let your dog think! Open level exercises will be introduced (dumbbell, command discrimination and broad jump).

Criteria: Dog must understand (not proficient) the Novice exercises (heel on lead, figure 8, stand for exam and recall). No Open experience is necessary.
