I handle CANINE EMERGENCY BOARDING for VETERINARIANS and a RESOURCE CENTER for ANIMAL BEHAVIORAL, GROOMING and BASIC CANINE Health ISSUES. I am a DEFENDER for, and of, the Bouvier des Flandres Breed. This page was developed because of these Facts:
Per the AKC Official Standard for the Bouvier found here: http://bouvier.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32&Itemid=5

There are no outright disqualifications but penalties for certain faults of conformation. The ear is described as 'if cropped' it is a short triangle. The tail is described as docked. The judge reading the standard would reinforce by his placements the deviation from what is described in the Standard as idea. Hear is the Issue, I bought a Bouvier from Poland because of his pedigree and his Show Ring Confirmation at eight weeks old. The puppy came to the USA at 10 weeks of age. I could not get the puppy into Dr. B's till the puppy was 14 weeks old for Ears and Tail to be removed because of the reading of the AKC Standards. If I had found a puppy in the USA, none of this would be coming up. I am glad this happened, and I know it happened for a reason. My Eyes were opened, upon just how traumatic it would have been to doc DON VITO's TAIL. Let alone his EARS to satisfy the Standards at 14 wks old. There should be no difference between tail and no tail. Times are changing and the younger people are being taught that Docking is not needed or necessary like it once was. If you like the ALL NATURAL LOOK, then like my page! Thank you, in advance....cp
