We are a family farm and rabbit colony that live on the Farside of life. We also happen to live on a road called Farside, way out, deep in the woods in a two story monolithic dome where we hold retreats on cultural education, indigenous instrument building, homesteading, primitive skills, drum circles, breeder care, and much more. On top of that, we run a funky little Bed & Breakfast where we host people from all over the world. We all live pretty awesome lives out here.
We have lots of animals around the farm but my favorites are the bun-buns! We are totally obsessed with them. I even write blogs from their perspectives on humanity- ha! We started our tribe with a few rabbits of our own which eventually led to taking them in if people can’t care for theirs and expanded into a rescue retirement home. We love it! We clean them up, trim their nails, fluff up their coats, give them a good place to live and feed them the best we possibly can, also as naturally and holistic as well can.
My step-daughter and I have talked about running a little Bunny Rescue for some time now, since so many rabbits get euthanized or let go into the woods (Note: If you let your bunny go, it’s most likely going to die, like Really quickly, that’s a very unfortunate truth for domestic bunnies.) It’s also so sad to see how some bunnies can be so mistreated and neglected. So we like to hook them up here !
Spoiled rotten would be an appropriate description. We even built a “Fodder Walkway,” around the house packed with nutritionally dense and native plants which are rabbit friendly so people can pick them treats. They can be very picky eaters and lots of plants can be toxic to them so I am very passionate about teaching people what they can and can’t eat!
We still keep all of our own garden bunnies but would love to see some babies and rescues adopted out or sponsored so we can continue to bring in more and see them get good homes instead of not being given a chance.
We raise rabbits for all different purposes here and we love to educate people on which rabbit is right for their home depending on their need for them. For me personally, they are a homesteader and gardener's dream come true and they constantly fertilize for you, creating the most incredible and rich soil! They are my best friends and I am so grateful for them.
Being care-takers of so many of our own rabbits, it gets pricey really quick to be able to take in a lot of strays, but I don’t think I will ever have the heart to say no! We love them all! Every living creature deserves to have a beautiful life, eat well, and be loved. We do want to keep it as ethical and responsibly done to the best of our abilities, so we came up with some options.
SPONSORSHIPS: If you are not able to adopt a fur baby for your own home, we are more than willing to still care for it if you could help with some food costs! You will receive a monthly update on your fuzzy little friend, treats for them, pictures, video clips, bunny thank you cards, & more. You can either pick a specific rabbit to sponsor, or it can rotate throughout the rescues. You are also able to visit anytime you like and play with them! They love visitors- and usually know they get spoiled with extra treats when folks come to play with them. ;) $10 a month can help us tremendously with one rescue bunny.
DONATIONS: Any donation is more than appreciated! This can be through monetary contribution, food donations, specific woods for chewing/nails, water bottles, bunny treats, seeds for their gardens, herbs, edible flowers, and even your time volunteering holding bunnies and learning how to care for them! They are so incredibly therapeutic and are my little wisdom givers. :)
ADOPTIONS: We always have a few different breeds up for adoption and this comes with an instruction manual on how to properly care for them, lists of proper caging materials, foods lists, as well as continuing education and consulting post adoption. We want to make sure each bunny is well cared for and are happy to help you get started in any way possible. (Adoption price varies with breed but we like to be very fair!)
Thank you for your Rabbit Love!
