The story at LakeShore is similar to most in that what started many years ago in the spring of 1990 as a young girls’ 4-H project has evolved into a labor of love, which now includes the entire family. Over the past eighteen years, this family venture has brought us much joy, opportunity and togetherness. Our goal has always been to produce well-balanced animals that show, milk and reproduce. Thro

ugh the years we have worked with several different bloodlines to develop our own style of Nubians, ones that enable us to achieve our goals. We are very pleased with the type of animals that we are breeding and are proud and confident to offer them for sale to our fellow Nubian breeders. The herd is located in Northern California, approximately 120 miles northwest of Sacramento, along the "lakeshore" of the largest natural lake in California - Clear Lake. The natural lake and mountain setting provides mild weather throughout the year that everyone enjoys. On average, the Nubian herd consists of around thirty animals that compete on a local, state and national level each year. The Nubians share the farm with Heart Mt. LaManchas, a partnership that was created August 4, 2007 following the marriage of Megan and Aaron Carter. This addition was welcomed with open arms and we are looking forward to what the future holds.

**No Milk November?!**

We’re ready to start our milk-cation, but our ladies have other ideas, still happily filling the pail! After last weekend's milk test, we’ve cut back to milking once a day, which has been a nice change.

Though we've been a bit quiet since summer, we've kept busy with the county fair, judging assignments, kids' school activities, and breeding season. We're thrilled to announce our first two confirmed breedings for February 2025 kids, both from AI matings to +*B Lakeshore-Farms Doctor Luke and +*B Wingwood Farm Lucky True Blue. We have many more exciting pairings in the works and hope to update our website soon with new photos and planned matings.

Celebrating 17 years of marriage today! Although the goats are how we met and what initially made us a couple, we opted for a goat free weekend away at the Mendocino Coast. It was so nice to get away, relax and have quality time with our family. Cheers to the next 17 years!

As we are on the road back home, having traversed nearly 2,500 miles on this journey, there are many available hours to reflect on this past week while attending the ADGA National Show. This trip has been nothing short of incredible, filled with excitement, hard work, and numerous moments of pride and joy.

We are immensely proud of our goats. They took the long travel days in stride, maintained their appearance, did everything we asked of them, and looked their absolute best on show day! These remarkable animals have truly shown their resilience and beauty, making every mile worth it.

We are thrilled to be returning home with the coveted Nubian Reserve Premier Breeder award, a testament to the dedication and effort put into raising and preparing our goats. Alongside this prestigious award, we achieved other top individual class placings earned by the nine does in attendance:

This endeavor has always been a family project, and it remains so. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering help and support of our family and friends. I am incredibly grateful that my mom flew in for the show to watch, spend time with us, and keep us well-fed. We deeply appreciate Tammy for traveling with us and helping with milking and caring for the animals, both to and from the show. Our wonderful chore support at home, Diana, deserves a special mention for not only taking care of the four-legged members of our family but also the two-legged ones. And, of course, heartfelt thanks to all our friends, both old and new, who provided camaraderie and contributed to the good times throughout this journey.

As we look ahead, breeding plans for the 2025 kids are already in the works. Stay tuned for more details and updates. This adventure is far from over, and we are excited about what the future holds!

Another weekend, another goat show! We attended the REDGA Memorial Doe Show on Saturday with milkers and even added in some junior does this time around. We showed 3 Nubian milkers and 1 Nubian junior on Saturday. It was so good to spend time with friends we haven't seen in a while, be able to watch Bentley and Teagan show some of their favorite Nigerians, and see such a competitive show.

The BEAUTY of the day was having GCH (pend) LakeShore True Beauty 8*M come out as a 5 Year-Old in the Champion Challenge class where she was 2xBOB, then went on to be named Best Doe In Show in one of the rings. She is a tremendous powerhouse, but also quite elegant when she wants to be!

Show season started a bit earlier for us this year than normal with having attended the North Valley DGA Show in Anderson, CA over the weekend. We hadn't been to this show since the location change 5 years ago as I typically can't find the time to get goats ready. I may have only shown 1 Nubian at the show this year, but it was the right one as we now have a NEW CHAMPION in the barn!

GCH (pending) LakeShore TB Vanity Girl 4*M (2-07 E90 VEVE)

Vanity was shown in all 3 rings where she was 3x1st, 2xGCH, 1xRGCH, 1xBDIS and 1xBUIS as a 3rd freshening Three Year-Old.

**SOLD**

We currently have a handsome buck kid available out of LakeShore Kastania 6*M and sired by *B LakeShore Be Tru Blue (son of SGCH Woest-Hoeve Flip'N To The Blue 5*M who is the littermate sister to 3xNational Champion, FB Jellie). Kastania was 3rd place Milking Yearling at the 2023 National Show and was undefeated in her class. She has matured a lot this year and her mammary is even more exceptional than last year.

Spring Break Means Goat Road Trip!
LakeShore Nubians and Lil Miss B Haven Nigerian Dairy Goats

We will be making a trip from Northern California (Williams, CA) to Southern California (San Diego, CA) and back the first week of April. We will have room to transport baby goats (and possibly mature animals on a case by case basis), as well as semen along our planned route, which may be adjustable to an extent.

The current plan is to travel I-5 to Sacramento, then Hwy 99 through Bakersfield and back on I-5, then I-210 to San Bernadino, followed by I-15 to I-215 to the San Diego area. Planned departure date heading South is April 1st with return trip starting April 2nd and completed by April 3rd. There is space available from both North to South and from South to North.

Must be able to meet along our planned route for both pick up and drop off in order to allow for us to get animals delivered faster and keep us on the road. Prices will depend on distance hauled and quantity of animals. There will not be any door to door service available.

LakeShore Heaven Hill 6*M (Four Year-Old)

The 2024 kidding season is looking bright for Heaven as she kidded early (rather than late June kids like last year) and is coming into her own. She is letting it be known that she wants her spot back on the show string! For various reasons she hasn't been in the show ring since her yearling year where she was 6th place Milking Yearling at the 2021 National Show.

Heaven was bred to *B LakeShore Kaiyoum Vintage and kidded with beautiful twins (1 buck/1 doe), both of whom are spoken for.

🌞 Just another beautiful day on the farm! Our youngest of the baby goats are loving life in their clean pens, basking in the warm sunshine, and taking serene naps. There's nothing quite as heartwarming as seeing these little ones so content and happy. 🐐💕
