We started 2025 right with a field trip to search at Kelseyville Lumber. Eleven teams took part and each worked nine searches, and I finally managed to get photos of all of the dogs this time! There are still a few spaces available in the Introduction to K9 Nose Work classes starting in late February in Kelseyville and Hopland. A new Introduction to K9 Nose Work® class will start in February at our Hopland location: Red Barn Dog Boarding and Daycare on Feliz Creek Road. For more information about K9 Nose Work, go to www.k9NoseWork.com and click on the About Us tab in the menu.

Each class is 1.5 hours per week for six consecutive weeks and costs $180. The instructor is Alison Herrold, who has more than seven years experience teaching and competing and holds the title of Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI℠) awarded by the National Association of Canine Scent Work® (NACSW). These are very small classes set up so that shy or dog-reactive dogs can participate safely, so don’t miss out!

A new Introduction to K9 Nose Work® class will start in Lakeport on Wednesday, September 18, at 9:30 a.m. This is the first of four 6-week classes in the full Foundation Sequence:

Introduction to K9 Nose Work®: 9/18 to 10/23
Intermediate K9 Nose Work®: Exteriors & Vehicles: 11/6 to 12/18
Intro to Odor 1: 1/15/25 to 2/19/25
Intro to Odor 2: 3/5/25 to 4/9/25

These are small classes with a maximum of six dogs per class, and preference will be given to those who intend to complete the full four-class sequence. There will be six-week, standalone, introductory classes offered for those who prefer to just dip their toes (noses!) into scent work.
