Hey Lakeway Photographers - Call for Photography! Women in Visual Art (WIVA) is looking for photos for the second annual "Women in Photography 2025" exhibit, celebrating Women's History Month. Held at the Lake Travis Library from March 1st to March 29th, this captivating showcase will feature a diverse collection of powerful and inspiring photographs exploring women's history, health, beauty, motherhood, and the ongoing pursuit of equality. It will feature both works by established women photographers and captivating photo portraits of women captured by talented local photographers.

If you would like to be a part of "Women in Photography" you can enter up to 5 photos for free online. The call for submissions is open until January 16th, 2025. Submit your work today!

Celebrating its 22nd year, the 2024 Lakeway Photo Festival 📷 showcases both the unique beauty of our area and the amazing ⭐ talents of our local photographers. This year the photo categories include Abstract/Artistic 🎨, Architecture 🏘, Birds 🦆, Community 🙏, Drone/Aerial ✈, Greenscapes 🌳, Macro/Close-up 🌺, Pets 🐾, Skyscapes 🌈, Waterscapes 🌊and Wildlife 🦌. Amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to enter. All photos MUST be taken in the City of Lakeway and by residents within the Lake Travis ISD area. Submit your entries by August 31, 2024 at 5pm. Awards 🏆reception will be held Sunday, September 22nd at the Lakeway Activity Center from 4-5pm.

Be a 2024 Lakeway Photo Festival Judge! This year the City of Lakeway Arts Committee is assembling a panel of professional photographers to judge the entries. If you are interested in judging, please contact us via our link in bio or the website below by July 15th. If selected, we will contact you in mid-August and judging will take place in the first half of September. Judges are not allowed to be a participant in the Lakeway Photo Festival. Drone? Macro? Portraits? Send in your photo category ideas!

We need your input! Celebrating its 22nd year, the 2024 Lakeway Photo 📸 Festival showcases both the unique beauty of our area and the amazing talents of our local photographers. Last year the photo categories included Artistic, Community, Heritage, Nature (Sky, Water and Greenery), Pets and Wildlife (Deer, Birds and Critters).

We would like your input for possible NEW photo categories for the upcoming 2024 Lakeway Photo Festival (accepting entries from July 15 - August 31). Please fill out this short form (below) if you would like to vote on current or proposed categories or let us know if you have an idea for a brand new one. Remember that to be eligible, all photos must be taken within the City of Lakeway so categories like “Travel” are not applicable. Please submit your feedback by May 31, 2024.

Attention Travis County Photographers: The Naturescapes Photography Contest is celebrating its 20th year! The unique beauty of the natural areas within San Marcos inspired the first Naturescapes Photography Contest. The contest includes photographs taken in greenspaces and natural areas throughout Hays, Blanco, Comal, Guadalupe, Caldwell, and Travis Counties. Contest sponsors are the Hill Country Photography Club and the Hays County Master Naturalist program.

Goals of the contest and exhibit include increasing public awareness of the importance of protecting our natural world and giving photographers at all levels of experience a chance to capture, share, and receive recognition for beautiful and inspiring images. Suggested subjects include natural scenery, wildlife, plants, and people and pets in the natural environment.



Accepting entries from April 1st to June 24, 2024. The contest is open to resident and visiting photographers of all ages.

Naturescapes Exhibition will take place at the San Marcos Activity Center Walkers’ Gallery from September 28th – October 25th, 2024. The Naturescapes Awards Reception will take place at the San Marcos Activity Center on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Hey photographers, are you ready for the upcoming eclipse? Only three weeks from today, Lakeway and Central Texas will experience a total solar eclipse on Monday April 8, 2024 at approximately 1:35pm (depending on weather and cloud cover). For about 3 minutes and sixteen seconds the sky will be dark, stars will be visible, and the sun will be covered by the moon so only the corona of gases is visible. It is one of the world’s most rare and wondrous natural phenomena. It is profoundly different from the partial eclipses that most of us have experienced. The last total solar eclipse with Austin in the path was May 26, 1397, the next one after 2024 will be February 25, 2343. In other words, you really don't want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime event!

Our Spotlight theme will be "SKYSCAPES" and we will discuss landscape photography. The LPC is an informal group of photographers of all ages and experience who are interested in exploring photography as an art medium. We strive to help everyone improve their individual photographic styles, as well as to learn more about the art and science of both film and digital photography. Calling all Lakeway photographers! Lakeway Arts is seeking photo submissions from local photographers for the debut Women in Photography exhibit, which will be on display from March 1-30, 2024 at the Lake Travis Community Library in celebration of Women's History Month. This exhibit is FREE to enter and open to the work of all photographers of any age or gender, amateur or professional, and will showcase their diverse perspectives and talents as well as compelling photographic portraits of inspiring women.

To be eligible, you must either be a woman photographer OR submit a photo with a female main subject. All ages, genders and expertise levels are welcome to submit their photographs online.
