Non profit, 501c3 public charity animal rescue & adoption center operating a mostly cage free shelter in Lakewood, CO. Since 2003, we've saved the lives of and found safe, caring homes for over 11,000 animals (mostly cats & kittens at the shelter, but many dogs through fosters). Amazing fact due to our very limited resources, our small building (converted fast food restaurant), no government, corporate, or other group funding, and only a few committed volunteers.

🐾 We Stepped Up When They Had No One 🐾

On Christmas Eve, 17 adult cats lost their human when their owner passed away. With no family able to take them and no local rescues with space, these cats had nowhere to go. Angels With Paws stepped in and said yes.

Since Monday, these 17 cats bring our intake total to 32 cats this week. Many of whom are not yet spayed or neutered. We are committed to giving every one of them safety, care, and a second chance, but we can’t do it alone.

💜 We urgently need help with:

•Clumping litter
•Adult wet food

•Fosters willing to open their homes to adult cats until they’re ready for the adoption floor

Tuna is a sweet, chatty 2-year-old who believes life is better when you narrate it together. She loves to “talk” and will fill your day with little comments, questions, and opinions. She’s also an affectionate and devoted sidekick who prefers to stay close by and would do well with someone who is frequently home. Little Buddy was officially adopted this holiday season, celebrating Christmas as an official member of his forever family. 🎄🐾

But truth be told, he had already claimed a special place in the hearts of his adopters during his time with them as a foster while he completed his dental work.

As you can see from these wonderful photos, Little Buddy has truly made himself at home. For a senior cat looking for forever, that kind of love and security is everything—and it’s all we could ever ask for. 💙

Today, Angels With Paws welcomed 10 cats from Oklahoma on their just in time for the holidays. ✈️🐾

What started as saving one double-positive kitty (FIV+ & FeLV+) who was at risk of euthanasia quickly grew into something much bigger. That single “yes” led to helping rescue a small colony of cats who had been living on the porch of their caretaker’s home.

A local rescue stepped up to support the resident by getting the cats spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returning those who could safely go back home. However, several of these kitties were clearly adoptable—they just needed an organization with the space to help them start their next chapter. Since we were already taking Boots, they reached out to us… and we said YES!

Moments like this show exactly how your donations make a real, lifesaving impact on small, deserving lives. 💜

A huge thank you to Pilots N Paws volunteer James for safely flying these sweet kitties from OK to CO, and to the team at Kite Kat Rescue for making this rescue possible.

These sweet seniors are seeking a special and patient adopter to be a part of their next chapter. Ether (M) and Sonic (F) are both 10 years old and came from a warehouse at an emergency shelter for humans. They had lived most of their lives there, so being at AWP has been a big adjustment. But we’re starting to see hints of their sweet and curious personalities. After they’ve had time to adjust in a calm environment, we think they’ll blossom even more. This gray beauty is Hopper. True to her name, she’s playful and quick on her paws - whether she’s grabbing a feather toy or hopping up on her hind legs for pets. Hopper loves humans but isn’t a big fan of other cats and would do well as the only feline. Dogs and kids are unknown.
