Non profit, 501c3 public charity animal rescue & adoption center operating a mostly cage free shelter in Lakewood, CO. Since 2003, we've saved the lives of and found safe, caring homes for over 11,000 animals (mostly cats & kittens at the shelter, but many dogs through fosters). Amazing fact due to our very limited resources, our small building (converted fast food restaurant), no government, corporate, or other group funding, and only a few committed volunteers.

📣 Important Announcement 📣

Angels With Paws public hours have changed effective September 1st.
Effective 9/1, AWP will not be open for spontaneous (walk-in) visits from Monday to Thursday. These days will be for appointments only. If you fancy a visit on these days, just ring us at 303-274-22264 or drop us an email at [email protected] to set up an appointment, and we will get a kitty cuddle session set up.

Thank you so much for showing kindness and patience during this transition. This is new and will take getting used to for our staff and our community.

Say hello to Noodle! One of our special FeLV+ kitties looking for a place to call her own. This pretty calico is approximately 2 years old and somewhat timid. But give her a little time (and a treat) and you’ll quickly see the sweet and friendly girl she is. Noodle would do best in a calm home. Older kids or mellow dogs would likely be ok. Other cats would need to be FeLV+ too..

These wise and gentle eyes belong to Rosa. A sweet senior who is 19 years old and hoping to find a calm and loving home to live out the rest of her life. She moves slowly due to arthritis, but can still get around. Head scratches and treats are some of her favorite things. Think your home might be a good fit? We encourage you to come meet Rosa!

A few weeks ago we featured JJ. Today we’re featuring her sister Minnie! Although not technically bonded, these two would do very well together. This sweet 3-year-old might be a shy when you first meet her but she warms up quickly. Especially if head scratches are involved. Think Minnie (and possibly her sister) might be a good match for you? This petite and cute girl is Aspen 🩶 Another one of our rescues that came from an extreme hoarding situation. She’s approximately 1 year old and very shy. She would do best in a calm home with patient humans who will give her time and space to adjust. She seems to do ok with other cats. Dogs are unknown. This wide-eyed cutie is Pluto. A soft and curious girl hoping to find a calm home in which she can continue coming out of her shell. She’s a year old, loves treats and seems to do well with other cats. We wouldn’t recommend a home with dogs. Think this shy, but sweet tuxie could be a match for you? Bremus needs eye surgery! This absolute sweetheart of a kitten came to us with only one eye. He visited the amazing folks at Mountain Star Veterinary this afternoon and we learned more about his missing eye. He has no globe of the eye, but he does have all the membranes and ducts he’s supposed to. These are causing him problems since he has no eye, and they need to be removed!

Meet Miller! This dapper guy with unique markings is approximately 8 years old and would do best with someone who will read his cues. He’s curious and friendly, but can also get overstimulated at times. We wouldn’t recommend small children for that reason (older kids might be ok). Other cats might also be ok, after a proper intro. Dogs are unknown. Think this handsome fellow could be the one for you? Miller would love to make your acquaintance!

Angels With Paws is graciously asking for donations of dry food and litter for the many kittens and cats in care right now. We are in the midst of kitten season, and the kittens are ravenous, eating so much food as they grow. They are also going through a lot of litter as kittens do. In addition, we are also at max with adult cats and truly appreciate any donations you are able to send our way.

A calm home would be best for this sweet lady as it will take her a while to adjust. Older kids might be ok. Dogs are unknown. Soleil has been on the lookout for a forever home for over a year! This cute misfit is a special needs guy that is both fun and feisty. He’s approximately 6 years old and requires daily glucose monitoring for his diabetes. BUT we’ve discovered that his condition can be mostly be managed with a wet food diet. We think he would likely do ok with other animals (he came from a multi-pet household) or as an only cat. Think your home might be a good fit? It's our 2023 Review! What a wonderful and busy year it's been rescuing kitties. Mixed in with all the intakes and adoptions, Angels With Paws also moved to our new location. So it was a busy year indeed. We thank our wonderful community, our volunteers, our staff, and the board. Without each and every one of you, this can't happen. Thank you for such a successful 2023.
