It was a very tough weekend at WCBR Headquarters .

We had to help sweet Murphy ( formerly Muncy of SEAACA) to the bridge. 🌈 He had cancer and it had metastasized to his lungs. He was suffering.

Murphy was the kind of dog any one of us would have wanted. He was a sweet, velcro dog who would have been the type to just lay by your feet while you relaxed or read a book. He was so loving and affectionate.
He spent most of his life as an outdoor dog as evident on the cement burns and callouses. We suspect the origin of cancer was in his testicle as we felt the mass along with perianal growths he had. Had this sweet soul just been better cared for and received regular vet check ups and neutered, perhaps we wouldn’t be here.

He loved every minute that he spent with his WCBR aunties on his last day. He was spoiled with love and all the McDonalds cheeseburgers and the Rotisserie chicken he wanted.
We told him he is a good boy and that we all loved him. He gets to be a WCBR baby. And as a WCBR boy, he gets to go through the VIB (very important Boxer) entrance at Rainbow Bridge where all our WCBR babies will be waiting for him. There, he gets to play with each one while they all wait for us.
He went peacefully with all of us holding him, letting him know how very loved and cherished he is and that his life mattered. We are grateful he did not die in the cold shelter alone and afraid.

Thank you, Britt, Stephanie and Juvy for being with Murphy until the end.
We are grateful to everyone who donated to Murphy’s care and rallied to get him to safety. You made a difference in his life.

Safe journey to the light, Murphy. You are a WCBR dog forever and we love you.

Introducing Murphy (formerly Muncy of SEAACA)

West Coast Boxer Rescue was alerted to this boy who needed out quickly.
As we were putting in our commitment to pull Murphy on Friday, the Rescue Coordinator expressed her concern that he was declining rapidly and stated that the shelter vet had recommended euthanasia if he does not improve by the end of the day.

Thankfully our Volunteer, wonderful Britt, stepped up and rallied to the shelter and pulled Murphy just in time.

He is now on his way to our vet partner Katella Animal Clinic where he will be receiving the prompt medical care he desperately needs to recover from his advanced kennel cough.

Thank you Brittany Rafuson for being Murphy’s angel today, and Stephanie Trujillo Gallegos Jessica Arango for making room for him at your clinic.

Stay tuned as we get to know Murphy after he is well recovered and can show us his true authentic Boxer self.

Welcome to your new beginnings, Murphy Man!
