We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Rachel Halbrook to Fox Hollow Animal Hospital!

Dr. Rachel was adopted from China at a young age and raised in central Louisiana. She attended Louisiana Tech University for undergraduate schooling and obtained her Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University. After graduation, she practiced at a mixed (cat, dog, and farm animal) general practice near Dallas before moving to Denver.
When Dr. Halbrook is not at the clinic, she enjoys exploring Colorado, making music, playing video games, reading, and playing sports. She also has a pet tortoise named Tobi and a Golden
Retriever named Beignet.

Join us in giving a warm welcome to Dr. Rachel! We are excited for the wonderful care and expertise she will bring to our community.

🐱Help us find a home!

This sweet, senior lady was relinquished to us after her mom went in to an assisted living facility and she was in need of a tail amputation. She is SO SWEET and absolutely loves everyone she meets. We have made her a little apartment of her own here at the hospital, but she needs more attention and love. Please help us find this deserving lady her forever home💙

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Cass Bouse-Eaton! We are thrilled to have her as part of our team and we can’t wait for you to meet her! Here is a little bit about her:

I’m a Colorado local and grew up just down the street in Highlands Ranch. I left Colorado for my undergraduate degree in Movement Science at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) but returned home to obtain my DVM at Colorado State University. After a brief stint in California practicing equine medicine, I decided I couldn’t stay away from my mountains and returned home, at which time I joined the Fox Hollow team. Just as much as I am passionate about my four-legged patients, I am passionate about the people who love and care for them, and I look forward to building relationships with Fox Hollow’s amazing clientele. My interests in the veterinary field include internal medicine, end-of-life care, and the intersections of Western and Eastern medicine - I hope to soon obtain my small animal acupuncture certification to match my one in horses! When not at work, you can find me training for the show ring with my ex-racehorse, Aspen, exploring Colorado’s outdoors by foot, ski and lounge chair, or spending time with my partner, Anthony, our German Shepherd mix, Lenny, and our crazy kittens, Huey and Hazel.

🐾 Important Health Alert for Our Canine Companions in Colorado 🐾

Dear Pet Parents,

We at Fox Hollow Animal Hospital want to update you on a significant health concern affecting dogs in our community. Colorado State University has reported an increase in cases of a contagious illness leading to upper respiratory infections among dogs, notably along Colorado’s Front Range. This illness is showing signs similar to kennel cough or CIRDC, including symptoms like coughing, sneezing, discharge from eyes and nose, lethargy, decreased appetite, and fever.

What makes this situation more alarming is that the course of the disease seems different from usual cases. Some dogs continue coughing for several weeks, and there is an increased occurrence of severe pneumonia, which has been tragically fatal in some instances .

Current clinical findings suggest that most affected dogs have a virus targeting the respiratory system, leading to secondary bacterial infection and pneumonia. The exact mode of transmission is still unclear, but it appears to be contagious .

👉 What Can You Do?

1. Keep Vaccines Updated: Ensure your dog’s vaccinations are current. This includes the annual intranasal vaccine for Bordetella, Adenovirus 2, and parainfluenza, combined with the injectable influenza H3N2 vaccine.

2. Monitor Your Dogs Closely: Watch for progressive coughing, ocular or nasal discharges, and sneezing.

3. Seek Veterinary Care Promptly: If your dog shows these symptoms, particularly with loss of appetite, breathing difficulties, continuous coughing, or extreme lethargy, contact us immediately.

4. Avoid Dog Gatherings: Temporarily avoid dog parks and other social events where your dog might contact other dogs of unknown health status. Ensure vaccinations are complete before any boarding, daycare, or grooming appointments.

🔬 Ongoing Research and Vigilance

We are closely monitoring the situation and staying informed about the latest findings and recommendations. The health and safety of our furry friends are our top priority, and we are here to provide the best care possible during this time.

For more information or if you have concerns about your pet’s health, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Stay safe and vigilant!

Meet Doctor Ethan Pope! (Many of you already have in person!)

Howdy! I am the second oldest of five and I was not only given the privilege to share my birthday with my twin sister, but also with another sister born exactly one year thereafter! Although I was born and raised in Austin, TX, I have moved back and forth several times, so I have found it easiest to simply put: I have lived half my life in Texas and half my life in New England, and welcome my newest chapter in Colorado! I received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Connecticut College in 2019 and completed my DVM at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences in 2023. My original pursuit as a veterinarian stems from promoting the human- animal bond and yearning for an opportunity where I can provide care to those service animals who support us in times of natural disaster and mental health. Although constantly changing, I enjoy clinical pathology, emergency medicine, cardiology, and preventative medicine. I currently live in Lakewood with my incredible partner Abby and our two Goldens, Moose and Malibu. When I’m not at work, I fancy going on hikes in the beautiful mountains of CO, camping, playing golf and hockey, hosting game nights, and cheering on Aggie college football!

We are so happy to have him at Fox Hollow and he has been an amazing addition to our team! We are excited for all of you to get to know him!
