Joint Base Lewis-McChord Veterinary Center care off base* Joint Base Lewis-McChord Veterinary Treatment Facility is the DOD's main treatment center servicing the western region.

We do our best to serve our service members however, the priorities of this facility are as follows:
Military Working Dogs
Health Certificates
Wellness
Sick Calls (Limited and Seasonal)
Surgery/Dentals (Limited)
*We highly recommend est. Our primary mission is to provide world class veterinary care to maintain the health of our military working dogs. We also recognize the value of the human animal

bond in the health and well being of our soldiers and their families and are proud to extend our services to active duty and retired military family pets. Secondarily, we provide:
-Health certificate examinations and paperwork for PCSing families
-Wellness and preventative medicine (Vaccines, Heartworm test, Microchips, flea/tick prevention, etc)
-Surgery (basic spays, neuters, possibly mass removals and other MINOR procedures based on availability of
CPT DVM's, but NO ORTHOPEDIC procedures)
-Dentals (limited to dental prophylaxis, minor extractions, but extensive dental work is referred off base)
-Sick Call Appts (ear infections, skin infections, etc). Our sick call availability is extremely limited and

Just a quick update, we will be closing today at 3pm. We will also be closed Friday the 4th and Monday the 7th due to the holiday. Keep your pets safe out there this weekend.

Just a friendly reminder, we are closed today (30Jun) for our end of quarter inventory, staff meeting, and training. We will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8-12 and 1-4.

We will be closed Friday the 4th of July and the 7th for the holiday weekend.

Good day!

Just a quick reminder about our operations and availabities :)

Our primary mission is to provide world class veterinary care to maintain the health of our military working dogs. **Personally owned animals (POA's) will be rescheduled to accomodate MWD procedures or appts as needed**

We also recognize the value of the human animal bond in the health and well being of our soldiers and their families and are proud to extend our services to active duty and retired military family pets.

Secondarily, we provide (in order of importance to policies and Vetcom standards):

1st - Health certificate examinations and paperwork for PCSing families

2nd - Wellness and preventative medicine (Vaccines, Heartworm test, Microchips, flea/tick prevention, etc)

3rd - Surgery - basic spays, neuters, possibly mass removals and other MINOR procedures based on availability of CPT DVM's, but RARELY ORTHOPEDIC procedures and many if not all will be referred off base

4th - Dentals - limited to dental prophylaxis, minor extractions, but extensive dental work is referred off base

5th - Sick Call Appts (ear infections, skin infections, etc). Our sick call availability is extremely limited and SEASONAL. We decrease our sick call availability from June through October every year. These are booked only ONE week out to ensure proper care is given and are booked on a first-come-first-served basis. *Clients in clinic will be helped prior to those on the phone*

These are subject to change based off availability but this is typically how things go. ***We HIGHLY recommend establishing care off base for chronic cases to ensure continuity of care***
