The bird yard!
This is where the layers, ducks, and geese live!
The coop is a plastic shed, and inside are stainless steel nest boxes, and a hand made roost. Deep bedded in straw or pine shavings.
The fencing is stuck in the ground, and not nearly tall enough. So we added a floppy second layer, that deters flying. They have a 55 gallon feeder, and a shade cloth, as well as 2 pools, and smaller waterers.
Once I move the geese out (they’ve taken to eating eggs), we will have more eggs available for sale!
I was blessed with the friendliest of rams 🥰
We put both herds together for a couple days, and so I have to fend off some of the fatter sheep from the feed (They will be separated today, due to always becoming escape artists when they’re all together 🤨🙄).
Richard comes right up and puts his head gently on my knee asking for pets.
The best boy!!
Last year we built a yard that we hoped would keep the chickens in and the coyotes out.
Well, the snow ripped down the net over the top, and they all broke loose! We’ve had loose ducks, and chickens for too long.
Yesterday we FINALLY finished our new 6ft tall fenced in yard.
Today, I have corralled as many of my birds as I can, and I love seeing all my birds in the yard. There’s a few chickens still missing from the group, but hopefully they’ll come home soon.
Last step is the net for the top!
