CAT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

Hello world,

I'm a gentle soul looking for a calm and quiet forever home. My name is Stella, and I'm a 2-year-old domestic short hair. I may be a bit shy at first—I like to burrow under my blankets where it feels safe—but if you're gentle and patient, I'll eventually come out for some chin rubs.

I promise that with a little time and kindness, I'll warm up to you. I'm hoping to find a home where I can feel secure, relax, and maybe have a cozy spot to hide when I need it. If you think your heart and home could be the safe space I'm looking for, please reach out to the shelter.

Looking forward to meeting someone special.

P.S. The shelter staff caught a cute video of me burrowing in my blankets. I think they posted it in the comments.

— Stella

Happy Kitten Season!

“What do I do if I find kittens?”

The most important thing—do not pick them up! Mother cats often leave their kittens for a few hours while hunting or finding a safer location. If the kittens are warm and quiet, the mother has likely been there recently. She will not return if she senses danger, so it is best to leave them undisturbed. Taking a kitten to the shelter at this stage might do more harm than good. Kittens have a much higher chance of survival with their mother!

Observe from a distance to see if the mother returns. If she does not come back after a few hours, or if the kittens start crying or feels cold, then intervention may be necessary. Please call us for further advice and assistance!

Kitten season leads to overcrowded shelters every year. The best way to help is by ensuring cats are spayed and neutered to prevent future litters. If you find kittens, take the right steps to protect them and support efforts to reduce overpopulation.

Please feel free to call Lakewood Animal Control at (216) 529-5020 for any questions regarding this matter!

Bono is an Irish Wolfhound who once roamed the streets before finding his way to the Lakewood Animal Shelter. With St. Patrick's Day approaching, Bono, being the proud Irish pup he is, wanted to share some joy by inviting his forever family to visit the shelter. He expressed how thrilled he is to be with them and promised he would never leave their side. Bono also wishes for all the other animals at the shelter to experience the same Irish luck he did and find their forever homes.

🌞 As the weather warms up, it’s important to keep your fur-baby safe and comfortable! Here are some tips to remember:

🚗 Never Leave Pets in Hot Cars
• Even for a few minutes! Temperatures can rise quickly inside a car and can be deadly for your pet.
• Even with the windows cracked – the inside of a car can heat up to dangerous levels in no time.

🌳 Provide Shade and Cool Areas
• Make sure your pet always has access to shaded areas and cool spots around your home or yard.
• Keep them safe by providing plenty of fresh water and a cool place to relax when outside.

🦠 Protect Against Parasites
• Warm weather brings more fleas, ticks, and heartworm. Make sure your pet is protected!

Let’s keep our furry friends safe and happy this summer! 🐾❤️

Lucky is a charming 2 1/2-year-old male who would gladly exchange his Pot of Gold for a loving Fur-Ever home. Irish you could witness his sweetness and the joy he finds in being petted. He loves to curl his pawns when he is laying down comfortably.

When adopting an animal, you can expect the following:
First three days: Animals may be overwhelmed as they get used to their new surroundings.

After three weeks: They may feel more comfortable and have a better understanding of their routine.

Three months after adoption: Animals feel safe, secure, and ready to build a trusting bond with you as their pet parent.

It's important to note that the behavior exhibited by animals in the shelter often does not accurately represent their true personality at home, largely due to the high-stress conditions of the shelter.
If you are interested in Teddy, please call the Shelter at (216) 529-5020.

Our Cat Adoption Fee is $75 and includes:
• Neuter
• First FVRCP and Rabies Vaccination
• Deworming

• Flea/Tick Prevention
• One Free Exam and Vaccine from Lakewood Animal Hospital or Detroit Dover Animal Hospital

CAT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

Meet Zorro, a one-year-old domestic short-haired male cat!

Zorro is a reserved and independent feline, who values his personal space, but still craves affectionate pets. His favorite activities include playing with his spring cat toy and napping alongside his human friends on the couch.

After spending a few weeks in foster care, Zorro's caretakers have found him to be a gentle and loving companion, who may be a bit timid at first, but quickly becomes comfortable in the presence of people. They have stated he does not mind other cats and does not mind being picked up.

First three days: Animals may be overwhelmed as they get used to their new surroundings.
After three weeks: They may feel more comfortable and have a better understanding of their routine.
