Dogs and cats often come into contact with ticks when they are outside. Like humans, pets can get sick with tickborne diseases.
Dogs are very susceptible to tick bites and tickborne diseases. For that reason, it's important to use a tick preventive product on your dog and check your dog daily head to toe for ticks.
Cats are extremely sensitive to a variety of chemicals. Do not apply any tick prevention products to your cats without first asking your veterinarian.

Colorado locals and tourists, along with their furry companions, alike will be racing to the mountains during the weekends to get their hiking and outdoors fix.
However, with great weather comes a greater risk of injury for some. As the weather warms and people engage in more outdoor activities with their dogs, the chances of a dog injuring his or her leg via Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) tear dramatically increases.

Meet this adorable roly-poly - Dudley! 😍

Dudley is a 4 month old English Bulldog that came to us with Cherry eye in both eyes. Our Ophthalmologist, Dr. Barnes did a surgery called Morgan Pocket which essentially pushes the cherry eye back into the pocket and after it is sutured in, he is all set! Dudley is now Cherry Eye free for the rest of his life!

Meet Brie - One of our amazing ER & ICU RVT's 🎉❤️

I’ve been in the veterinary field since I was 15 years old and have worked my way from kennel worker to technician with hard work and determination. I’m so happy I get to work in the ER and ICU taking care of the sick and hurt babies and giving them all the love and TLC they may need. My heart is always fully with my patients and I enjoy giving extra snuggles to those who need it.

My little family consists of my dogs Nala and Nova, and my cats Sterling and Binx.
In my free time, I love to paint, kayak, game, go on hikes with my corgi, or just relax back with a good book.
A fun fact about myself is that I love doing conservation work and spent a few weeks in South Africa working with cheetahs!

As temperatures rise, it's crucial to always prioritize the safety of your pets by avoiding leaving them alone in parked cars. Even with the windows cracked, the temperature in cars still rises quickly.

If your pet is displaying any of these heat stroke symptoms, please bring your pet to the nearest ER:
Heavy panting
Rapid breathing
Excessive drooling
Dry gums
Bright red gums and tongue
Skin that's hot to the touch
Increased heart rate
Difficulty staying balanced

One of the most common things we see coming through our ER is pet's vomiting - Sometimes vomiting is "normal", it could be something that didn't sit well in their stomach just like people. However, if your pet is showing any of these signs, we recommend getting them into their primary vet or an emergency room.

Today's Tip Tuesday comes from Nyx the Great Dane!
🐶 Don't eat your bed - even though you might think it's fun at the time, your human will need to bring you in for a foreign body surgery to remove it.

Nyx had to undergo emergency surgery after eating stuffing from his dog bed. Signs that your dog may have eaten something they shouldn't have include:
Drooling
Vomiting
Gagging or choking
Repeated lip-licking
Refusing to eat
Lethargy

If your dog is displaying any of these symptoms please give us a call!
