Good morning family and friends! We hope you've all had a fun and safe summer! We are reaching out to provide information on Proposition 129 in Colorado, which would introduce a mid-level veterinary position called a Veterinary Professional Associate (VPA). We at Front Range, as well as veterinarians throughout Colorado are against this Proposition and ask that we all vote against this Proposition, as it would negatively impact the veterinary field and the animals we work so hard to protect. Please visit this link for more information and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns! Have a great week!

Veterinarians practicing in Colorado today oppose Proposition 129. They know that adding mid-level positions doesn’t result in better clinical outcomes for animals.

Dear Front Range friends and family,

As we continue to monitor the mystery canine respiratory illness, we want to provide a quick update to our clients regarding the current situation. While we still must remain vigilant and cautious, we are seeing a decline in new cases of this illness. The reason is not entirely understood, but may be due to pet owners' efforts to isolate their canine friends and limit their social interactions. We continue to recommend staying up to date on vaccinations, including Bordatella and Influenza, and make efforts to avoid high risk activities if possible. This may include trying to avoid dog parks, kennels, daycare, etc. We still do not have an identification of the illness, but will continue to update you all when progress has been made. Please feel free to read this article recently released by CSU for a brief overview. Thank you all and have a wonderful day!

Reports of canine respiratory disease in Colorado have dropped from peak case numbers last year, according to CSU veterinary experts.

Good morning Front Range clients! We hope you're having a fantastic weekend. We want to reach out and inform you all of a concernig increase in canine respiratory illnesses seen throughout Colorado, many of which have progressed to severe disease. We are monitoring these trends and following recommendations from local specialists regarding treatment. Respiratory illness is spread from direct contact with other dogs, most often in a social setting such as kennels, day cares, and dog parks. We highly recommend making sure dogs are vaccinated for Bordatella (commonly known as kennel cough) and canine influenza, especially if they are going to be socializing with other dogs. If at all possible, limiting contact with non- familiar dogs should be considered. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our doctors if you have questions or concerns, and we will of course be vigilant in updating our clients about the situation. If your pet acquires a cough or other respiratory symptoms, please let us know so that we can ensure proper care for our beloved canine patients. Thank you all, and have a great Sunday!

Veterinarians along the Front Range are seeing more dogs with severe coughs — some even developing pneumonia and requiring hospitalization.

Just a reminder to all our cat owners, to be aware of the dangers that Easter Lilies pose to our feline family members. Please contact us immediately if you feel your cat has ingested any part of an Easter Lily.

As Easter quickly approaches, we just wanted to post a friendly reminder that while Easter lilies may be beautiful, they are very toxic to cats. Every part of the lily is toxic if eaten: the stem, leaves, flower and pollen.

Hello Front Range family! As we enjoy this beautiful Colorado summer, there are some risks to our beloved pets to be aware of, including toxic Blue Green Algae. This algae, if consumed in water, can cause neurologic symptoms and liver failure very quickly. Do not allow your pets to drink from lakes or ponds, and call our office immediately if you suspect your pet has been exposed to this toxin.

Stay safe and enjoy this beautiful summer!
